    Hi all and Welcome! "newbies"

Becs, just read your post about "getting more serious" about things. I do my cakes in a very small way to a lot of you but just wondered if anyone is buying wholesale? I would really kike to get a range together and stick to the same designs as it is hard trying to find the same items all the time. also, has anyone managed to buy Nappies (bulk) other than supermarkets etc?

    Hi Carly

I live in Longton - my friend was selling them in her market stall (she does baby clothes and toys normally) I told her that I was starting to do them and that I was going to ask her if she wanted to sell them but I had seen that she had beaten me to the punchline (great minds...) then she told me that she was selling a few but she really didnt have time to do them anymore so... she'd be happy to sell mine!!! I'm so chuffed!!!

Where about in Stoke are you?? I'll let you know if I spot any good bargains locally :D

BTW Carly - do you make the fasinator's on your website?? They are gorgeous!!

    Hi Moonpenny,
I'm buying my toys wholesale at the moment and if I decide to go for it will be buying my blankets wholesale too. I don't use cheap ingredients though, the toys I buy are licensed character toys that retail at appx £10, the blankets I'm looking at will retail at £20. As for nappies, at the moment I ahve just been buying them on the 2 for £18 deals as and when required. Muslins I'm looking into buying off the internet as well. Johnsons products I think would be hard to find cheaper at cost than you can buy in pound shop for.

    Hi becs,

I remember now - you use licensed toys! I buy my nappies at the moment when Sainsbury's do the third off deal. Same with toiletries. The only thing about buying toiletries from £ shop is it usually has foreign writing on and I'm not too sure about it. I have bought some from there but what do you think about this?
Might seem stupid but I overheard a woman saying "look at this, it's foreign - you can't even read the instructions" The main thing that bothers me is, sometimes other countries put different ingredients in to U.K. What do you think?

    Hi Moonpenny,
The ones I get from the pound shop are all english, if they were foreign I think I would feel like you and not use them. The only thing I have to watch is sometimes they are the smaller sizes which can be £1 elsewhere anyway. I've bought the nappies from Asda lately on the 2 boxes for £18. I use the huggies size 3 activedry as they are quite plain and look really nice. I'm not sure where you would get Johnson's from wholesale although that may be my next quest!

    Hi Sal,
I got the banner made up from a guy on ebay that Bellag posted the link to on the original forum. I sent him the pics and wording and he sent me suggested designs, once agreed they made up the banner. It's vinyl so is waterproff as well if I needed to put it up outside.

    Hello girlies!

Hi Becs I think I'm going to try some of licenced toys on my luxury cakes soon. That 'licenced' retailer have still to sort my account out its driving me nuts but one of the sales reps is coming over on Tuesday with samples so I can try them on my cakes.
I am now getting some blankets, towels, scratch mitts, muslins, face cloths, feeding cloths at wholesale prices. I get my nappies from Costco which work out cheaper than the 2 for £18 deal. they also do cheaper Johnsons products there. My problem is trying to come up with a design am happy with and therefore want to stick to!
I am still on the look out for wholesalers for socks and vests.
Heres my latest...cost a fortune to make so will have to sell for a fortune :D

    Bellag that is stunning!

Well hi guys, Im back :) In the process of making a christening nappy cake for a cousin and a football cake for a friend :) Looking forward to doing it again!

Also popped to a craft fair today and think it could be a good place to have a good go at selling the cakes. Has anyone here got any tips / advice on selling at fayres? How many should I take, and what selection should I offer?
