Well my cheap towel bales arrived today so thought I would have a quick practice making a towel cake 3 tier using the 2 bath towels, 2 hand towels, 2 face cloths. It went together really easily and quickly but I am not happy with the ends of the towels I rolled them neatly but they look too bulky I pinned with safety pins and then wrappd wide ribbon around to cover the pins. It looks wrong? Any advice ladies please would be greatly appreciated
    Thanks in advance
    Carly

Hi Carly.. when you get to the end of the 1st towel attach the 2nd towel with a couple safety pins. this allows a neat join. continue with the roll and push down on the towel as rolling in order to keep the straight edge at the end. It can still be a little bulky than one likes if you use good quality towels.
i then secure with string which i then remove once i have added the florist ribbon and wedding ribbon. i also shred and curl some florist ribbon to drape down the back join so as to hide where the towel ends.
hope you can understand my explanations

Thank you to Crmim and Chatty 123 for your advice. I did try rolling one towel and then roll the other around it, if that makes sense! I just think its looks bulky but probably just me being overly perfectionist!lol! On a good note though just had another order for a nappy cake - yay! its a 2 tier one tier mum pamper and 2nd layer baby nappy cake, should be fun trying to put it all together especially with my 2 big boys running round and my lil baby demanding his feeds :0 will have to lay off the red wine at night and get cracking then lol, thanks for all your help x
Proud mummy to 3 beautiful boys! :D

    Good Morning Everyone

    Hope you're all well?

I've been taking a look on You Tube at all the cake tutorials that are on there and I noticed a lot of them are just "nappy" cakes, ie where they don't cover the outside with the blankets etc.

I wonder if any of you lovely ladies who use the blankets on their cakes have ever made a tutorial step by step video or would consider doing one?

Hi Sally, I did a tutorial which I was told was reasonably easy to follow. You are welcome to have a copy if you can PM me your email address. I did it for Saveapenny but since then a lot of the ladies on this thread have asked for it and also a couple of ladies from the other boards.
    Let me know.
