    Love looking at everyones creations!!

Im planning a complete website re-vamp .. and a company name change, id also love to get into hosting baby showers (but thats just a thought at the moment)..

Moonpenny your cakes are still as stunning as ever - how have you been?

Ive beeb reading about people stealing photos and using them as there own work ! this also happened to me, with someone stealing words and content from my website! Its so frustrating!!

Thanks xpf, I will do that. You must have read my mind because just after posting the above, I had the same thought. I too thought that the amount that gets reused is minimal and wondered if anyone just used cardboard.

If you have a particularly heavy cake, just use a couple of circles.

Sweetpea32, I use the silver Cake Boards as I think it looks nicer when the edges show around the cake. I buy online.

I use the thinnest ones with "cut" edges but like to use a better one with turned edges for "Luxury" Cakes.

Depends what size you use - Asda do a nice 10inch board for about 65p.

Hi! liz_uk - good to know you are still cake making. Just had a look at your website (is it the new one or the old one?) Never seen it before but I think it looks great! Love the spotty background and your cakes look fab.

I am plodding along but havn't got a website or anything. Would love one but to be honest, don't know where to start. I just sell locally and to a couple of Offices in town.

    hi everyone

chatty, very wise words about over spending. i have so made two cakes and two small ones. thats all i can afford to do at the moment until orders :-( which seem very slow.

i would really like to take this to a whole "business" level, but have no idea how to go about it.

I have recently made a facebook page, if anyone intersted they can have a look and maybe "like" it.

Can I ask? anyone who posts cakes out - do you use double wall boxes for all sizes of cakes or just the 3 Tier ones?

I am particularly thinking of "minis" but what about 1 and 2 Tiers as well.

Also, does anyone use polystyrene sheets inside the boxes or just bubble wrap etc?

Nice to see this thread a bit livelier of late! :)

Ooo I'd be intrigued to know the answer to that to moon penny!!

Also that's my old website, am in the process of re-design and have just purchased a new .com domain name which I'm really excited about.. Also have someone designing a logo!! The cakes on the site at the moment are pretty rubbish as they are really old designs!

Am planning on going full steam with this now!

Looking into wholesale for teddies at the moment.. (bring back ellies I say.. Hehe) can anyone recommend one??

Also going to put myself through an accounting course so i can do my own tax returns!! Oh joy!!

  • Hi Guys

Another newbie question.... when am I able to post some pics of my cakes and how do I do it???

Thanks Chatty for the advice. I have been very sensible and only stocked up a few items in advance. Tis obviously reduces my profit but it saves me from stressing about whether or not Im going to get another sale.

Ive not really advertised my cakes as such but I did order some cheap business cards and plan to do a facebook page and have started designing my own flyers!!Phew!!

Hi DeborahDoodle, I think you will be O.K. posting pics by now as you have 1 star (Don't know what they mean really!) :rotfl:

As I use Photobucket, I can only explain how to use that.

After you have uploaded your pics on to the photo website (You will have to fiddle with your account settings first) you hover your curser over the pic you want and a box appears underneath with about 4 options.
Click on IMG and for a second it will say "copied"

Then go over to your posting box in MSE and right click "Paste". A load of letters appears but when you post your message, the pic will come up.

Go advanced on your post first if you want to see if it has worked.
