Good luck newbies with your nappy cakes.
Just please be careful not to overspend immediately as I really feel it could prove costly for stock until you have built up a good supply of customers. There have been lots of MSE ladies on here in the past who have made a nappy cake and sold it, followed by a couple more and have straight away gone on to spend vast amounts of money, which they could least afford, in the hope they have a flourishing business on the go. Sadly quite a few have months later listed all their unused stock for sale.
You may all think this is a harsh thing to say but please, those of you who know will know I am not a nasty person , just someone who would like to help you all earn that extra few pennies,.
Yes I do make nappy cakes and have done for good few years after seeing them on my annual USA trips and they are a fantastic gift for a new mummy to be. But even after all these years i dont overstock I only buy a little ahead and fill my suitcases from the US. This way I get to see some of the little profit there is to be made.
Here are yesterdays makes

Wise words Chatty123. I feel as if I could have been one of those overspenders but have come to my senses. I got some fantastic deals today though. Managed to get 120 size 3 pampers nappies for £6,so that's only 5p a nappy. Tescos have got a half price baby clothes sale on until midnight tonight too so managed to get a couple of packs of vests and bibs at great prices. That's me done now as far as stock goes as I have enough to make a few cakes and get started but I won't be buying anything else until I get some orders.0

Forgot to say, lovely cakes Chatty.
I also got some bears yesterday from Card Factory - all really lovely and soft and only 99p and £1.99 each. They weren't reduced either, that was the normal price.0 -
Hello again, I was just wondering what thickness of cake boards everyone uses. I have found some on Ebay (pack of 10) that work out around 50p each which I thought was a good buy. They are only 1.5mm thick though. Would they be OK or would I be better buying thicker ones?0

I've never bothered with cake boards - just cut circles out of old cardboard boxes. I bet the number of cake boards that get reused are minimal so don't think it detracts from the product.0
