Thanks for the links Sam. I am clearly suffering from tiredness with lack of sleep ( I have a 4 week old baby). I'm not going to tell you what I did, because I feel really stupid now as clearly pull bows are the easiest thing in the world to assemble!! I am going to order a load more online in bulk.

sweetpea, :-) dont worry, i wont judge you lol. congrats on your little one by the way! :-) x

moonpenny, i like your style ;-)

i will have to get into the habit of bargain hunting and looking about all the shops. asda is pretty good at deals ive found.

one thing i have struggled to find (reasonably priced) is soft toys?!
    xx

hi samesex..welcome, im reasonably new too n find this site very helpful for tips :) we r all n it together :)

Soft toys are most definately the biggest challenge to find at a reasonable price, pound shops occasionally have nice ones but it varies and you can never rely on them stocking them again. Mamas and papas sale can be good too.
I have decided to bite the bullet and make a wholesale order (minimum spend £100)...took a long time to decide whether to go for it...but orders are going ok so hopefully it will work out...my spare room is now full of bears though, 45 in total!! they do work out as £2.70 per bear though and are really cute...good luck =)
  • Beautiful first cake Sheyo...well done, watch out though, its addictive! im sure your cousin will love it :)

    Hi Lil-tinks,

i would also be interested in the link/place you used for your wholesale order. congratulations on your business doing well. im still in that limbo stage....do i, dont i continue. my other half doesnt think it will work. but im kind of hopeful. hmmm. its hard isnt it. to make a big jump and decision. especially getting things off the ground. researching, i see most people sell their medium sized nappy cakes for around £30. i spent about £25 on the products i have used, so selling for £30 isnt really making much profit.

lol, sorry im waffling on now and going off on a complete tangent! xxx

I have managed to make my first cake for just over £12 which I thought was really good as I am hoping to sell for £25. I got most of the ingredients in sales and a lot of them were well below half price, but working out what they would normally cost, £25 is a good price and I would still be making a nice profit (if I sell it of course!!) My cake includes 38 pampers size 3 nappies, fleecy hooded blanket, 2 pairs of socks, 4 feeding cloths (3 different designs), bib, teddy, johnsons talc, cake board, cellophane, ribbon and bow. If I had bought all these items at full price then I wouldn't be making much profit on £25 so it is all about looking for the bargains. I will post a picture when my computer is fixed and it will let me!

I have a lot of stock already though, although mainly pink, so I need to get some blue stuff, so I do need to sell a few cakes to cover the initial outlay. I too am thinking about doing a bulk order online as the things work out so much cheaper, but then I will have spent a load of money and not got any back yet. I am like you SamEssex, Do I just try and sell my first cake before taking the plunge, or just go for it. I always think that you don't know until you try, but seeing as I am on maternity leave I don't have a lot of spare money.I am really itching to get some more stock though and make a variety of cakes, I have got the nappy cake bug!
