    Hi Everyone!!

Just been catching up on the thread and everyones cakes! All looking good! (It's taking me some time to go through it!)

Well, I haven't been on here since March so I've got lots of catching up. My sister had a beautiful baby girl in March called Ruby whos kept us all busy! She had no idea of the cake I had made her and cried when she saw it!!

I've made quite a few cakes for other people in the meantime but thought I'd see if anyone could help with the next thing I want to make.

I'm after doing a Christening Nappy Cake for her which is in a few weeks to put on the Table.
Has anyone got any ideas of what I could put in this? Not sure if anyone has posted anything recently or made one but would love to try one.

If anyone has any ideas of what I could do it would be a great help!

    Thank you xx

    Hi Poppy

I'm doing a christening cake for a friends baby, as i did a large nappy cake for the birth i want to do something different ths time. I'm concidering a square cake & i might use towels (normal size ones) as baby towels dont fit for long! I've seen some nice girly ones in dunelm but i dont like the boys ones much! So i'm on the look out for some nice kids towels if anyone has seen any??

  • Hi Jo & Sal,

Thanks for the ideas, I'm going to stick to white for the cake keep it looking traditional!

I'm going to look at getting a personalised Towel for the bottom and smaller ones for the top.

Looking at getting some Silver stuff to put on it. I've found a cutlery set for £3.99 inc name. Its hard doing one from scratch with no pictures or anything! I've only got two weeks to do it in!!

How would you make the cake square? That would be nice to see when you have made it!

Well my first nappy cake is all done and wrapped and just waiting to be taken to a baby shower tonight :) OH helped me to wrap it, and overall I'm really pleased with it. OH asked me if I was sad to give it away as I'd been so excited about it and spent time planning and making it. I thought I might be, but I'm not as it's for some really good friends and I can't wait to see what they think about it.

I would put some photos on but OH has moved/taken the doodah thingy (my mind is blank as it's Friday and I can't think what they're called!) that you put my phone memory card in to transfer photos to my laptop. It might have to wait until tomorrow as I have to leave at 6.15pm to go to the baby shower, which is a surprise for mum-to-be. I can't wait!! :D

Thanks to everyone for a fab thread - I really couldn't have done it without all the advice and tips on here!

Noticed in Wilkinsons today they had Munchkin Soothing Ring Teethers 75% off marked price, so instead of £1.47 each they were only 37p each. They seemed to be quite girly colours they had....purple & orange and also pink & green. However I still bought a purple and orange one to put in my daughters three tier nappy cake which I will be making nearer to Christmas......third grandson due 21st December.

She is being well organised even talking about doing her Asda Christmas shop online now....but I suppose she has got to think ahead as she will not be very mobile coming up to Christmas.

I've finally managed to get some pics uploaded. Here are 2 of the many I took lol (click to enlarge). Not the best pics as I was doing it at night when the DDs were in bed so they couldn't help :rotfl:

I'm really pleased with it and so were mum and dad to be :j You can't see in the pics, but behind the bootees there are 2 mini bottles of wine, and there's a comb behind the teddy helping to keep him in place. There's also some Johnson's shampoo and soap in the middle too. I so enjoyed making it and everyone at the baby shower was amazed I'd made it myself. One friend said I HAD to start selling them on ebay etc! I was worried what the reaction it would get, but I didn't need to worry after all :)

Thank you :) The hooded fleece is more of a creamy colour and it was from Matalan. I think it was £4 and I got it in the last 2 weeks so should still be available. I think there were similar pink ones too, but as I needed a unisex one I didn't really look in the baby girl bit.

Thanks cat04.....I have two to make...one for my daughter and one for her friend who is due a few days later. Thought I would make a three tier one for my daughter and attempt to make a white crib one for her friend.
Are the crib shaped ones harder to make than the normal tier ones....do you use stiff card for the shape of the hood ?
