Thanks so much for your advice! I'll be taking lots of piccies and hopefully I'll dare to put some on
I'll get some cellophane ordered too, might arrive before Friday, fingers crossed. I'll have a look for the shining bear teddy, I didn't see one in B&M this week, but we have a Toys R Us close by so I'll look there too. Thanks again.
UPDATE: Just had a go at swirling (couldn't wait any longer!), and I made a good job of it if I do say so myself lol, even OH was impressedI followed Becs photo instructions on page 142, so thank you for that

Thanks for the link. Signing won't be a problem, I'm a SAHM to two 'darling' daughters so I'm at home a lot, although now DD2 is out till 12 at pre-school 3 times a week I have 'me' time...and I'm planning on spending it shopping for cake ingredients! Roll on January when she's at Nursery every morning - lots of crafting timeExtra savings aim for 2020 £4,000 £0/£4,000

Remember I said the reason why I'd joined this thread was because my friend's baby is due in November? Plenty of time to get bits together for a nappy cake....er, not exactly. Her hubby text me earlier to say she's having a surprise baby shower next Friday! I'd only got 3 things together, so me and DD2 nipped out to Matalan and got a blanket, socks, bootees etc then popped next door to Sainsbury's who handily had 1/3 off baby stuff so we got nappies, a bar of baby soap and some shampoo, then found a pack of 5 muslins for £5 in the next aisle, and 2 mini bottles of wine for £3. OH is out gigging tonight so I can have a go with the nappies. I think I might try swirling first (esp as I have no bands yet!) as it sounds like it uses less nappies and is quicker to do.
Just a couple of questions: where's the best place to get a teddy? (max £4)
This time I'll get a florist to wrap it (if I can find one who will!) so hopefully will get a pull bow from there too, but where do you usually buy your wide florist ribbon (for round the tiers)? Is it actually from a florist or can you buy it elsewhere? I don't want to chance it with ebay when I only have a week to get it done by!
Thanks in advance, and sorry for another long post
Do you have a local 'party shop', I buy my florist ribbon from there (£2.99 a reel). They also have pull bows and reels of curling ribbon, I suppose to use with the balloons.
I once had a request for 'green', and didnt want to buy a whole reel, so just went to a local florist and they were happy to sell me some, I think 30p/metre.
If your cello doesn't turn up in time, Ryman (used to be called Partners) sell the cello for £5, I think 10 metre rolls).A creative mess is better than tidy idleness0 -
Thanks Candy, we have got a party shop so I'll have a look in there on Monday. We did have a partners years ago, but not sure if there's a Ryman's here.
I wanted to pop into town this morning to get a few more bits but had to take DD2 to the walk in centre instead as she woke up with a load of gunk oosing out of her ear, so she now has some disgusting smelling medicine to clear up the infection. Hopefully it works otherwise I'll never get this cake finished on time!Extra savings aim for 2020 £4,000 £0/£4,000

I am lucky to live really near a floral supplier so get my cellophane, ribbon and flowers from there. If is is any help to anyone, they do have a website and whilst postage is £7.50 for orders under £50, it might work out cheaper for you overall.
Example, the equivalent cellophane as posted by Hollie84 works out at about £10.56 and the florist ribbon is £1.35 with a pack of 30 pull bows at £4.10. Here is the link to the siteIt's easier to get forgiveness than to ask permission0
