I have just made a towel cake and a mini nappy cake - only about 10 nappies, a fleecy blanket, soft toy and nice pair of booties - Do you think £8 is a fair price? I just really wanted something aimed at people who don't want to spend a fortune/ too much. Did sell one last week at a craft fair so it can't be too bad.

I think £8 is a fantastic price, how did you manage it for that?

I have spent all day driving round every shop in a 10 mile radius looking for nice blankets.

    Dunelm Mill - nothing

Tesco - no blankets at £2 only ones at £6

Sainsbury's - only one style, cream bobbly, lovely but £8

Asda - some at £1 but poor quality, some at £3 but only cream and two lovely ones Bambi and Tigger (think they were £6)

Matalan - the best I saw but still a poor selection

    So home with nothing :(

    Has anyone seen any online?

Irlip - the nappies are about £1, blanket £1 (blue or pink spotty ones from £land they are really nice!) pair of booties from 99p shop -they have blue pink or green - these are really nice too -kind of towelling material with velcro strap and all individually boxed although I have taken em out of the box and a 99p soft toy from card warehouse they have some lovely little bears blue/pink and orange. I bought a load a while back.... although saw some nice little lions in £land today so have a few of those too. so about 4.50 by the time its cello wrapped. £3.50 profit I didn't think was too bad for these as they only take minutes to do!

I know what yuou mean about not being able to find anything - I went ages and found no bargains but all of a sudden have bought loads and spent a forune but won't need to buy anything else for a while.

AM looking for nice towels and flannels at the moment to expand into other areas and not just baby but can't find any anywhere that are reasonable

AS far as blankets go have seen a few at various wholesalers online but doesnt work out htat cheap by the time added VAT and delivery as its around £6-10 usually.

Well, I'm really excited- been out this afternoon and bought

    2 cream/white blankets from matalan £3.00 + £4.50
    Johnsons products £6.00
    Pack of 30ish size 3 Nappies £3.50
    Cake board 0.39

Now all I need is a lovely squishy unisex style teddy that doesn't cost the earth- as I think I've kind of gone overboard on my blankets really.

Quite fancy making a few "sock flowers" for the edges of each tier.

QUESTION: How do you make it so that your blanket covers over the tops of the nappies of each layer???

If your nappies are white I would not worry too much about covering them. Once you put on the top tier you won't see much anyway and you can cover them with the flowers. Or on my last cake I used a muslin like on the pic below.

Can I ask where you got the cake board for 39p that is a good price?

What about babyoka? They have some really nice quality blankets that are currently reduced and p+p is free when you spend around £30. BTW, you need to empty your inbox

stay away from the pink star fish ones on there, the quality is awful, i wouldn't even pay a £1 for it, and pet blankets are better quality!
