I'm gonna make two nappy cakes very soon, got most of the 'ingredients' apart from the obvious...nappies...where do you buy yours from....which size..and how much do you spend on them?...Also, just another 'quickie'...do you attach the 'cake' to the board...I know you wrap them in cello...I was just wondering. Thanks.
  • Hello fellow nappy cake makers!!

I am making my first for a friend, have rolled all the nappies up, but I am sturggling with getting them to stay together, what do you all use to keep them together? Just the blanket thats at the bottom?

I use size 2 - make depends on whichever you prefer :-) I have used huggies for my friend which has a winnie the pooh pattern on, but you can use pampers, shop own brand :)

Cant answer the question about attatching the 'cake' to the board though sorry x

Thanks for posting the adams/dunnes blankets, i can't believe they are half the price in dunnes- if only we had one! I will order some adams ones though as i think they are lovely (thanks for letting me know they are good quaility too). So much for me deciding not to spend a penny more, lol!

I don't attach the cake to the board, just place it on then as i stick the cello to the under side of it the cake just stays in place.

board vs card. I have a circle cut out of card which i use under my cakes when im making them/moving them in the house. Then i slide them onto a cake board (68p from asda) as i think it looks a lot more proffesional when they are taken apart than a bit of card. I make it on the card though after managing to take some of the silver off the board so it looked messy

Does everyone use cake boards for their bases, or a circle of cardboard? I know that theoretically the cake boards can be used by the recipient, but if using the tubing cellophane method, surely you have to stick sellotape all over the bottom of the board and this would ruin it??
    debsleypig,
I buy the cake boards from Asda and they are completely wrapped in plastic, hence no tape actually attached to the board itself.

Ahhhh, I see. You keep the cake boards in plastic wrapping, yes. Why didn't I think of that? Duh!
