Thanks for all the kind thoughts for my mum -unfourtunately the results aren't what we are hoping ...so she will be getting a call next week with an appointment for a mastectomy ... although it could have been worse news as its a "DCIS" and even though its the advanced one they seem to think it is all contained and the 1 op should deal with it ..hopefully no chemo or radiotherapy ..so pinkies crossed for that.
Mum herself is amazingly chipper and upbeat..... *tough old birds in our family you know *:rotfl:

My mum got home ok, and is attending the nurse/hospital for lots of monitoring- she is sounding happy which is a good sign.
Back to things GC, not planning on buying much over the next couple of days although if I see any 'bargains'. I also have £13 Coop vouchers to spend too (£6 plus £7 so might nip in there for whoopsie hunting!).
DS birthday went well, although lots of cake left, and I managed to cremate the chicken (not OS at all as was so bad it had to be dumped, never mind, it did not spoil the day!).
Take care all.Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.

Right back to grocery things, hubby is hoping to finish work early today and if so we will be popping out for more fruit... Im getting through it like a starving gorilla at the moment
..mind mums results have just convinced me that all this extra fruit n veg is worth paying for .. I have always eaten loads of it and Im glad as with mum now, and then losing my sis to ovarian last year I think my body needs all the nutrients it can get -every little helps I guess;).
I will also be keeping my eyes open for any whoopsied organic things -:p
Dinner tonight is roast pork (sliced in the freezer) steamed potatoes in their skins, cauli, broccoli, carrots, peas and sweetcorn mmmmmm

Have done first shop of July today spent too much but am pleased with what I purchased. I haven't done a meal plan for next week yet, so hope that by doing shopping first and plan later I haven't made the task even harder!
Keep safe and well all, have a great weekend.

Apart from a small co-op 5 miles away it is 20 miles to nearest big store so I really have to plan in advance. I can't pop to Mr Ts and spend £20 when I have gone in for one or two items! It was very frustrating when we first moved here but no it is a massive bonus on the money saving.
My other tip is to get DD to do the shopping with a list from me and she never buys anything not on the list. No impulse buys at all! She works in a local town so it saves me petrol too. Last night DH and I popped into Mr Ts, which we do about once a year, and spent £62 on fruit and veg (which we needed) and meals in a bag, because we could!!:rotfl:
I buy organic pasta and rice in bulk
Meat once every three weeks or so from butcher, all meals bulked out with extra veg.
Ecover or similar w up liquid and laundry liquid in 5litres
Veg from market, garden or neighbours garden!
Biscuits and cakes home made or bought for b'days etc. only
Eggs from our hens, I don't include their food in monthly costs, maybe I should.
Fresh fish is pricey from fishmonger so only about once in three months I buy and freeze. We do get fish from local fisherman sometimes. Everything else from Aldi!

thanks PB maybe I need to put a bit more thought into planning ahead, I also need to look at buying some stuff in bulk like pasta rice etc.
my teens are 13 and 15 and are both athletes and have voracious appetites. I have difficulty filling them and go through huge quantities of rice and pasta and bread,
we have a costco near us ,maybe worthwhile looking there for bulk buys0 -

I buy my rice from an Asian supermarket in Newcastle about twice a year. Much cheaper than usual shops but I don't know how it compares with Costco.business mortgage £0))''(+ Barclay's business kitchen loan £0=Total paid off was £96105 PPI claimed and received £13527

Just wanted to send best wishes to you and your mum MrsM. I'm sorry that the news wasn't what you were hoping for.

Did the first shop of July & did well with the whoopsied meat – a whole chicken, chicken breasts, diced pork, lamb mince, TTD beef mince & ‘Finest’ sausages. Also bought a 1.5kg gammon joint in MrT – on offer at £3.34. So plenty of meat then!:p
Have also stocked up the larder & have enough dairy & eggs for a couple of weeks. Bought some milk & fresh fruit, but will probably need more of these in a few days.
Overall spent less than I did for the first shop of April, which was a five week month but I only allowed myself £140. So I am pretty sure that the remainder of the budget will be plenty for top ups over the next six weeks.0 -
Spent €33.83 today, total spend now at €188.82, leaving me €101.18 till end of month.
Also heard to-day that DD4 and DGS2 will be moving out this summer, probably July some time, so we will be down to 2 adults, meaning that I will be cutting my budget again....will see when it happens how much I can cut back.
Mrs M....so sorry to hear your Mum's news....gather that she is a feisty lady so am sure that she will fight this, IMO this is half the battle. Hugs to you and your family.
