Had a good shop in MrT today. Carried my calculator around with me and tried to keep a running total! :rotfl:
Chose a till with an older man on it as I had a lot of money off coupons to put through for a lot of stuff that I hadn't actually bought and I've found in the past that the younger ones aren't normally so willing to put them through!. In the end I had a whopping £7.30 off my shopping so it just goes to show it's worth tearing vouchers out of magazines. :j
Got about £75 left to the end of the month but that SHOULD be fine fingers crossed.Mortgage Free in 3 part 2 challenge - pay off £9000

I think I have just been lucky on my last few visits to MrT's because everyone has been buying the BBQ stuff, burgers, sausages etc there has been loads of reduced mince and joints left. At the moment we are living of turkey mince, I got 6 packs @ 55p each the other week, so far I have made burgers, meatballs, spag bol and meat loaf out of it but am running out of ideas for the rest of it.Back on MSE again! to take control of my finances and not let it control me. :T May grocery challenge £41.96/1400 -
Mooloo,
lol, I know what you mean having three teenagers but I have found that the following helpsHIDE IT!
:rotfl:I have allocated a wardrobe in my bedroom which I stock pile - making sure the goodies are hidden at the back. I just bring it down when I need it. I also have 90 cans of beer hidden in my neighbours house to stop my husband from guzzling it (I bought enough on Mr'T's last special to give him 7 or 8 cans a week which should last 10/11 weeks but if he knew where it was it would be gone within a couple of weeks
I know there are OS on here who hide things in the boot of their cars and all kinds of ingenious places :T
my mum used to hide the chocolate / other treats from my younger siblings except once she stored them in the grill and they melted when the oven got turned on and other hiding places included the washing machine and tumble dryer. When I had a party recently, all my lovely stella got hidden and out came tesco own brand beer0 -
No-one else seems to have declared yet, but as I am done with the June budget …
Declaring for June at £117.92.
We are going to Australia for three weeks from 1 August, so definitely won’t be joining in the GC that month. The relies don’t let me contribute, despite my attempts & last time I only managed to take some marmite from here & buy one wine box in the entire three weeks!
I was debating not joining the GC for July either, as it will be a bit of an odd month, trying to make sure that the fresh stuff all gets used up (or frozen, I guess) and stocking up the cupboards & freezers, including freezing some milk & bread, as the last thing I will want to do when I get back after a 24-hour flight is go shopping.
Don’t want to do a bit of a month from payday to 1 August. There are six weeks from now to when we go, and based on the usual £30 a week for six weeks would be £180. But it has been getting harder to stick to this, with rising prices, and have two month’s money (£240) to play with, as no costs for August.
If I go with £200 for a six week July will leave an extra £40, based on an average of £120 each month for the whole year, so can add £10 to the budget each month for the last four months. IYSWIM. So …
£200 for July please.0 -
Hiya guys,
not been around for a while, helping my sis in oz move, and it went well, she's much better, I came back creamcrackered but was successful.
Now hoping to join in July if you'll have me, missed you all, but have been sticking to the budget while I've been away so that's good.
Can't sleep so off to gather hints re budget saving

Just been to Asda and Iceland shopping, will update signature later but I've just found out that our son is going to the secondary school of our choice but its out of catchment and the school bus is going to cost £225 a term :eek::eek: but with the way petrol prices are going, it will probably be cheaper to send him on the bus than drive. Overall were happy.***Dont save what is left after spending, spend what is left after saving***0

Morning all
Thanks for all the kind thoughts for my mum -unfourtunately the results aren't what we are hoping ...so she will be getting a call next week with an appointment for a mastectomy ... although it could have been worse news as its a "DCIS" and even though its the advanced one they seem to think it is all contained and the 1 op should deal with it ..hopefully no chemo or radiotherapy ..so pinkies crossed for that.
Mum herself is amazingly chipper and upbeat..... *tough old birds in our family you know *:rotfl:
OrkneyStar -hope your mum is on the mend soon ..they are a worry aren't they
Right back to grocery things, hubby is hoping to finish work early today and if so we will be popping out for more fruit... Im getting through it like a starving gorilla at the moment
..mind mums results have just convinced me that all this extra fruit n veg is worth paying for .. I have always eaten loads of it and Im glad as with mum now, and then losing my sis to ovarian last year I think my body needs all the nutrients it can get -every little helps I guess;).
I will also be keeping my eyes open for any whoopsied organic things -:p
Dinner tonight is roast pork (sliced in the freezer) steamed potatoes in their skins, cauli, broccoli, carrots, peas and sweetcorn mmmmmm
right I will get off and be back later to update my signature
Have a great day everyone-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -

I have gone over my budget this month by £55. I have had an extra adult for two weeks, so have been trying to feed etc. 5 adults on £200.
Maybe a bit ambitious, even for me.
A bonus though is that I have stocked up the freezer with meat which will see us through July, and have bought washing liquids and detergents, loo rolls and tea in bulk.
I will have DS1 home from uni next month and possibly DB too so could do with advice on how much to budget for one woman and five men for a month!!
Hugs Mrs M for your mum and for you too. I hope it all goes well for her and she doesn't need the extra treatment.business mortgage £0))''(+ Barclay's business kitchen loan £0=Total paid off was £96105 PPI claimed and received £13527
