  • I'm 23 and work as a cashier at a well known foreign exchange company. £12675 for 37.5 hours a week, 22/23 days holiday I think. Only benefit is an extra 1% on the rate if I want to buy currency.

Am currently looking for something that pays better, this job was only ever something to keep the money coming in

I'm 30 and work as an Administrator at a University in London. Earn £33k and get 27 days annual leave plus bank holidays plus Uni closure days (usually about about 7 or 8 days a year).

I find that Universities tend to pay quite well for the work you have to do. I've never had to do even a minute of overtime in the five years I've been working in them.

I'm 25, Bank admin £13,600 pa. No holidays, but I get public holidays off, but I don't get paid for them. I do get a pension though. :(

I don't want to be admin for the rest of my life though, it sucks.

It is illegal for any employer not to give you holidays and/or not pay you for them.

If you work full time for a UK bank or any UK company, it would not be legal for you to have less than 20 days holiday.

Could be the op is saying s/he is on a zero hour contract? In the NHS the term was "bank staff" we got paid only for what we worked with no holidays/sick pay etc
  • I'm 31 and work as a data analyst in local government. I run a small team managing the payroll software and earn £33k. It's quite well paid but I'm highly skilled and have got a computing degree. I get 25 days holiday rising to 27 days in March when I've been with the council for 5 years. After 10 years I get 30 days. It's a good incentive to stay plus I get flexible working and they're family friendly. I like my job and colleagues which is a bonus.
