ERPGuy, what a package - amazing! Though when I saw the hours you work.. I had to admit I wouldn't do it even for that money!

I'd do it. Like he said, gets to work 1/2 days at home a week, so it's not too bad I suppose.
  • Are you in IT? Sorry, you've likely posted here and I've forgotten!

Our personal attitude to work is one that I find really interesting. I remember when I started at my first office job in the late 80s, I'd work till 7pm most nights because that's what a lot of my colleagues did and since then I've always done 10 hours days, I'd probably be called a workaholic by many.

To add a couple more data points to the thread there are around 20 software business consultants working in my current team, ages range from mid 20s to late 30s and they're on roughly 50k to 65k plus package and a bonus that's usually around 10%. Due to project issues and workloads the whole team have worked 4 of the last 6 weekends, they'll get time off in lieu for this.

It's not all one way though; if they need to work from home for something then that's fine; if they need half a day for a nativity play, parent's evening, medical appointment then as long as what needs to be done gets done then they take it and manage their own workload.
  • To be honest I do work a lot as well, always reading outside of work, for work. Worked at a start-up once which was intense. You'd do well in America - those hours are the norm!
That's pretty good money and I'd be happy with that. Weekends... yep, I do them if I have to though we don't quite get time off in lieu.

    Thanks for posting!!

    Job Title: Games Implementation Assistant

    Wage: £19,600

Pros: overtime opportunities, currently be paid as time in lieu. 25 days hols + bank hols. Work's do with a free bar twice a year ;) potential for bonuses, employer pays into my pension scheme and health insurance.

    Cons: none

Thought I would look at my previous post (from Aug 2013) and see if things have improved...

Wage has just increased to £20,250 (basically a 3% payrise) also earned a £350 bonus earlier this year (think was to stop everyone moaning a bout a lack of a twice promised payrise which never materialised)
I earned 19 days extra holidays over the year through overtime as time in lieu. Health insurance member ship now includes loyalty perks - free cinema ticket weekly is the only one useful to me really.

Not a huge progression, financially or professionally, but I do like my job.
  • Does that mean you work on a sort of help line or on site or do you run about on a muddy field with a ball.
