  • 24 supporter worker minimum wage on a crappy job at the moment , looking forward to switch as i can't bring my partner to this country because of the 18K minimum requirement so a job between the 18K and 20K would be nice as it would change my life both financially and domestically cause I want my finance to be with me not miles apart.

    42 years old, Offshore Medic

Salary approx £55k pa with PMI and pension if desired. 30 WEEKS off a year.

About to start some Onshore First Aid Instruction onshore which should net in a tidy sum in addition.

Wow, was just trawling back through this thread and saw this. Amazing! Also amazing to the chartered accountant on >>£110k and also mention of the rich vet who owns his own surgery.

Would be great to hear from those who wrote in before to see what situation they're in now, and to hear from more new people.

Currently on min wage working for a company which sells on ebay and Amazon - am in the office rather than picking or packing. They have a couple of real shops as well. It's a family business - the recession nearly killed the business - I earn more than the bosses but that is hopefully changing. I'm 48. Been in and out of work the last 10 years for health reasons. It has been very very hard. I love the job I have now. Luckily I have no debts at all, own my won house etc etc. so can save a reasonable chunk monthly. How you manage your money is better indicator of how wealthy you are rather than how much your basic salary is. I have in the past earned nearly three times as much as I do now yet I had next to nothing to show for it simply because I frittered it away.

Team leader in Asda - £16000 / 37.5hrs p/w potential for bonuses on top

work less than a mile from home which suits me

sometimes cover other stores if needed which works out good as they pay 45p a mile and get travelling time and time & half if do over my hours so working a weekend is ideal as closest place for me is 130miles away plus they pay overnight hotel & £20 towards evening meals

    Someone is telling porkies here!!

No such job in asda as a team leader. It's called section leader.

Closest store 130 miles away!? I don't think so!

Also you do not get time and a half if you do over your hours.

    Just not true.

Team Leader / Section Leader, whatever.

I think the OP meant the nearest store which he would be asked to cover is 130 miles away, not the nearest Asda.

Likewise, I think he meant a time and half if he is covering at ANOTHER store, not his normal place of work.

If someone was going to lie about their wage I doubt they would use £16,000 ;)

McCloud... What do you do then, and what age? I'm guessing something to do wiht IT. Wise words!

Will reply to other posts later as on my phone just now.

Always thought hitting near the 50k mark would be great but taking into account life's bills I reckon a couple needs £4k net to get by comfortably. £3.5k net per month would be OK by me, requiring close to a £10k rise, which is realistic but not with current employer unfortunately

I'm 24 and I'm a costs lawyer. It's a weird branch of the legal profession where you can qualify through vocational training. My job is around 75% negotiating settlements of solicitors' costs and 25% providing advice and assisting with maximising the profitability of litigation.

Self employed I would charge around £150 p/h, however I am PAYE unfortunately. I'm considering making the leap, as I've been doing this for 7 years now, and I could comfortably live on 10 hour work weeks. The problem is finding the clients, especially at my age where you're dealing with old lawyers who are wondering why exactly they are listening to somebody as old as the suit the have hanging in their office!

Nobody gets time and a half working overtime in an asda store. No matter which one. I wasn't saying that they didn't earn what they said that is true. But not much else is.

Time and a half does not exist in asda stores. What department do you work on?
