    Interesting opinion and thanks.
I would like to hear of others experiences regarding loan brokers and the company Quick Decisions loans?
What's your general knowledge of loan brokers? Do they hardly ever obtain a loan or are they usually quite successful?
My problem is, even though I have a credit card and the payments are up to date for the past year, my credit history isn't perfect, so obtaining a loan via my bank etc could be extremely diffciult?

mrbecky - have a look at my experience here with QDL.

  • I think the most shocking thing here is that Experian are actually using these people to refer out to. That to me is absolutely shocking. I'm in the process of complaing to Experian directly regarding this and I'm also looking into reporting the broker, anyone any ideas on who I would approach? Trading standards maybe?

Hi, back again, no surprise the fact that they've offered something completely different than they claimed they will give me before taking my fee.

    Before taking my fee:

    - "Your loan is accepted"
    - "You'll pay around 45 a month" (normal APR)

    After taking my fee:

    - "Your loan is pending approval actually, wait for the papers"
Papers come with a ridiculous APR, for a shorter repayment period than the one on my application and require a guarantor
    -
"Ok, we'll put you through the refunds department"
3 minutes listening to music, Lionel Richie. I ring back
    - "Ok, we'll put you through the refunds department"
5 minutes of Lionel Richie, I ring back
    - "Ok, we'll put you through the refunds department"
    - 15 minutes of Lionel Richie, I start to think there must be some additional compensation just for this!

We need to take some action, I'll see what we can do. It Experian doesn't react, we'll have to also place some complaint for them, since they've led us to the scammers.

I have a response from Experian regarding my complaint to them, I shall attach it bellow:

Thank you for your email, which we received on 10 August 2009.

When you use Lower My Bills, it will give you a list of deals that you are more likely to be accepted for. You are asked to complete an online form providing some personal details. Some text below the form says that you may then be contacted by someone to discuss your matches. This is because in some cases, we may not be able to find any matches and so your details and telephone number will be passed to a broker who will have access to a wider range of offers. Please be assured that when a broker contacts you, an application will only be made if you confirm to the broker that this is what you wish to do.

I do assure you that Experian do not charge for this service, however some of the Brokers that we use do charge an administration fee in order to proceed with your application through them. I am sorry that you feel you have been mislead about this. We are constantly looking at ways to improve our service so I am grateful to you for your comments and have passed these onto our marketing people.

    Kind regards

they obviously don't give a monkeys and I have sent a further complaint into them. I can find alsorts of info about reporting a lender for this sort of behaviour, but not for reporting a broker? Would the same apply? Would contacting trading standards do any good?

  • well, spoke to Consumer Direct today about QDL and Experian and they have told me the following.

They are following up my complaint (going to forward it to the local trading standards office to QDL) and are going to investigate it under the Consumer Regulations 2008.

Under said regulations they tell me that what they have done/are doing constitutes "Verbal Misrepesentation" and "Misleading Advertising" and they can be prosecuted for it.

I am waiting to hear anything (should they require more info) and I've also logged a similar complaint about Experian in the fact that they advertise "No Arrangement Fee" and actually refer to these nasty people. Trading Standards will also be looking at that under "Misleading Adcertising" also.

I doubt that one little thorn like me will cause any bother for them, but I;ve taken a step. Maybe we should all ring Consumer Direct and report QDL at least. Enough complaints, they can't ignore it.

Watchdog is also a thought as well! Specially about the Experian bit.
