I heard nothing about this until 3.30pm today when my DD1 came out of school. They have the day off tomorrow and maybe on wednesday too. Problem is DD2 at primary school hasnt got the day off and that always causes arguments. I pity anyone who has to organise childcare at that short notice.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040

That is a poor show. Our school told us last Thursday after the Director of Education consulted with all schools in LEA. All closed unless school tells you otherwise was our message.
It's not just Unison striking - from the Unison website:Support the strike on 28 March
(20/03/06) There are only a few working days before UNISON - and eleven other unions - take strike action in support of our members in the Local Government Pension Scheme.LGPS newsletter: 19 - PDF
Local Council staff involved in services with vunerable people will not be taking part in the action according to unison. I take this to mean there will be emergency staff on standby especially social workers and home helps will work as normal. Pregnant women are also exempt from strike action as it would affect their maternity pay due to break in service.~Laugh and the world laughs with you, weep and you weep alone.~:)
