Its a bit of a mix here in Derby. Some schools are closed - some are open - lucky for me my children's school is open.

Thank you so much to the OP!

I have just asked my DDs and they think that they might be off school or sixth form on Tuesday.

They did not, however think to tell me - I had to ask!

Just called local council but they didn't know what was happening. Knowledge of the strike but didn't know what schools were going to be closed.

As far as I know it is nationwide, all UNISON members. Think lots of schools/nurseries will be closed because no midday meals being provided and caretakers not around so Health and Safety issues. I am a member of UNISON but only heard about the strike on the radio news last week.

My DS's school was closed to pupils anyway that day because they are having a meeting about the proposed building work that is due to happen.

This strike action galls me ! Schools think it appropriate to levy fines on parents who take their kids out of school during term time for an annual holiday (cheaply), yet then think it acceptable to close the school for a day when the teachers aren't happy about something !

Smacks of double standards to me.

Havn't heard anything for around here and my boyfriend lives in London and hasn't heard anything. They will probably let us know at the last minute as usual though.
