My teachers never had assistants, and as for my kids' dinnerladies they spend the hour chatting to one another or on their mobiles rather than watching the kids.
The school said they have given us a letter today to give parents 'time to make alternative childcare arrangements'LOL anyone tried to get childcare at the last minute! Ironically I should have been going on a training course for school governors.

Hasnt anyone worked it out yet - if you dont work you get everything paid for when you are a pensioner anyway
The dinner ladies use their mobile phones on duty  . Definately wasn't allowed where I worked. Our breakfast/afterschool club has said they will open that day if enough demand (private company), but full days only. My friend worked out with her eldest 2 in there and the baby in the creche it was going to cost her £60 to go to work for 5 hours

Your kids let you lie in!!!???

Yes I was wise, I had my kid 8 years apart, so if I want a lie in the 13 yr old makes breakfast for the 5yr old :j They like it that way because then they get to watch cartoons on tv without me disturbing them by doing housework lol

Its been a good system, well it has been for a while, but my teenager is starting to want her lies in now and isn't as bothered about the cartoons so the last couple of weekends I've had to get up myself  ;)

Sorry, but no, it's not just UNISON members. There are 9 Unions involved, including T & G and GMB, both of whom have a significant membership in Local Government.

My daughters came home this evening with a letter informing us that the school will be closed on Tues. I pity parents who now have to find childcare at short notice.

I am in the fortunate position that they (if needed) can just tag along to my work with me for the day, as they do in all of the school hols too.
