Not the first time i have been jumped all over on this board by you and the gang is it Turkish for expressing my zero tolerance view on feeback blackmail and all other scammers.

Why don't you see if you can get the board name changed to "Ebay scams advice" and i'll leave you and the rest of scams advice team to it, untill then i'll keep posting my view, scammers are scum.
I don't believe that this was a scam. If it was then surely the item would've "not arrived" as this is the easiest scam. OP says they posted by 1st class standard.

On a unrelated point- people who are saying that the item would've gone for more, etc. can I point out that the OP says that it is worth £20 new? I can find lots of things laying around that were worth £20 new, they're probably worth 50p now though.
This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine

I am a professional ebay seller. I work hard at my job, I love my job, if you think it's silly that's your problem not mine. :p

    Nope we all have one.
Log into ebay > my ebay >'account' tab > seller dashboard.

You're absolutely correct. I was trying to access it under my buying account and of course having never sold anything it says "Not eligable to access this feature". Doh.

The seller dashboard makes fascinating reading. I particularly like the feature that shoes you if any buyer has left a 1 or 2 * rating or whether you have had any policy breaches.

I don't think all sellers actually know it is there though or that as well as the 1st page there are backing pages with more info.

The ebay Excessive Postage & Packaging Charges Policy states the following: "sellers may charge reasonable postage & packaging charges to cover the costs of posting, packaging, and handling the items they are selling".

i charged £12 postage and it cost me £3, is that excessive?
    packaging cost me 5p

It's not excessive, it's blatant rip off.

I'd neg' in a heatbeat for that.

Only ever left one negative on Ebay but I would have left you one for that postage plus 1 star on the ratings.

£1 extra on top of the actual postage for new packaging is ok but to charge £9 extra is just blatant fee avoidance.

I wish they would make all categories into "free" postage so it had to be built in with the price to stop people making money on the p&p.

I like the seller dashboard feature, as I like to think people are happy with their purchases. I wouldn't be happy if I had a low rating (I haven't), as I would feel that people weren't getting a good service. Feedback is all important for me.

I don't buy/sell or sell stuff that people would be disappointed with, and I think it is very important to be accurate in your descriptions, and that includes p&p. I would still give a discount, if I felt that I had put something misleading down. Its ultimately your decision (your consciense), but I know what I'd do.

Not sure if anyone else had but I had a check on ebay as I was dying to know what the item was - a pair of curtains! Seems very possible that the buyer would not know the weight, and therfore not know whether £12 was reasonable. Also possible the seller could not gestimate the cost of postage.

Curtains would be very hard to judge in terms of what is a reasonable cost, and what the item would have fetched if the P&P was reasonable. If they cost £20 new then as used they would be worth abouth what was paid by the buyer (not much).

The buyer has left neg feedback now!!
