Not the first time i have been jumped all over on this board by you and the gang is it Turkish for expressing my zero tolerance view on feeback blackmail and all other scammers.

Why don't you see if you can get the board name changed to "Ebay scams advice" and i'll leave you and the rest of scams advice team to it, untill then i'll keep posting my view, scammers are scum.

What if it is a normal person who didn't know the cost of sending the item (after all, we don't know what it is) and feels a bit ripped off about how much it cost to send ? I know I'd be pretty miffed if I paid 4 times the cost of something.

Oh, and please correct the mistakes in your sig. Several apostrophes too many, several full stops too few and some spelling mistakes.

i think you are taking the mickey TBH
if it were me i would have made a partial refund upon seeing how much less it cost to post
bear in mind paypal now have a dispute option for over charging on postage
interesting that the buyer should know how much this item costs to send but its okay as a seller to just overcharge
had you pulled your finger out and actually made the effort to post it in decent time they may not even have noticed

had a laugh the other day, ordered a cheap xmas item for my little boy.so obviously no hurry for me but the seller had a T&C to allow 10 working days for despatch!!!

I bought a junior tennis racket off ebay and was charged £6 P&P. When the parcel arrived the cost was £1.50. I queried the postage and the seller told me in no uncertain terms that it was fair given the packaging (some recycled brown paper), her time & effort, etc etc. I still miffed but as this was in the old days of feedback I didn't want to neg her cos then we'd have got into tit-for-tat neg-ging. Most sellers attitudes are "tough - shouldn't have bid then should you?".

Which in a way is right because if you bought a blue car for example you wouldn't take it back after purchase because you don't like the colour, you could see the colour before you bought it.

This is not the exact same thing i know but the point is the seller gave you all the details, you agreed to them when bidding, if you were not happy then you should not have bid.

Completely totally and utterly different analogy. How is the buyer to know the weight of the racket and how it is to be wrapped (and therefore the 'proper' cost of postage and packing) ?

Ask questions before, not after the auction as per ebay guideance, and how often do you buy something that "you don't know what it is" and can't estimate the postage.

I agree, but in this particular case the P&P was a bit old recycled paper (cost = £0) and 2nd class post. For £6 I expected at least something a bit decent.

Really though, unless you were the only bidder, it is likely that if the postage had been lower, the selling price would have been higher, and you would have ended up paying roughly the same amount.

The only winner would be eBay.

I just want to reiterate my point. Did someone say it already, because I think it is incredibly sensible.

And I agree with Soolin's point of being screwed if you have to claim with RM, but it's a risk you take!

Buyers! If you're not happy with the cost, don't bid on the item! Simples!

I think the seller is the one who is in wrong. I would be annoyed to if they over charged me. But then I would avoid rip off sellers on postage in first instance but you cant always tell how much something costs until it arrives. The seller was the one breaking the ebay rules

But my point is if you had complained earlier the seller could have at least explained that if they lower the postage they would have to increase the sale price or starting price.

The fact is sellers have prices they want to achieve in mind before they sell, if they did lower the postage they would only raise the starting price so it is an argument not worth having.

The seller has the right to raise the sale price if they lower the postage cost, by using the feedback blackmailing system the buyer is removing that right in an attempt to get an overall price they never would have got even if the postage was lower.
