Nice lady told me the £10 will be credited 2 or 3 days after delivery. Dongle arrived today so I'll keep an eye on it. She said the code had definately been accepted!

    Still looking good though

Where do I find the drivers? and how do I download them? Will it be reasonably idiot proof so that I do not f*ck things up big time?

    Navigate to;

    http://www.acer.com/aspireone/support/files/connect.html

and look for the download "MACLES" in the connect section

This worked for me and installation was a breeze. For MAC the installer is on the dongle. There is also a slot that will take a 2Gb sd micro card so it can be used as a memory stick as well
  • Got mine delivered today ...ordered yesterday now just waiting for my statements to see how much >>>:money::beer::confused:

no I was using the Cloud at the airport during my £2 24 hour top up, but literally all I did was plug in the dongle, fire up IE and got the cloud log in page, mobile number entered and up and running........

you get The Cloud access as long as you have time still left on your top up - I put the £2 on the night before in the hotel and it ran to the following evening so my afternoon airport time was in that, definitely worth it when Travelodge were looking a tenner!

OK so its only useful for wi-fi if you pay for 3G access. So no good for me then.

I've got as far as downloading the zip file from Acer. I then open it with xarchiver. A separate download widow then opens. I click open on the file named huawei081126.sh.zip. Another window then opens with file name huawei081126.sh. in it. So far so good. The instructions from Acer say double click this file and follow the instructions. The problem is I cannot get this file to open by double clicking. If I use the open command another window opens with a large numeber of files in it including huawei081126.sh.zip.

So I'm now stuck. Am I doing something wrong somewhere? Advice most welcome. Thanks.

Not sure any of that was necessary. Included in the latest Linux Linpus updates is a Huawai Connection Manager.

Have you downloaded the latest updates?

How do I check whether I have the latest update? Where do I find the latest updates to download if I need to get it?

I assume then that I just put the dongle in and wait for the onscreen instructions when I do get the latest version? If not what happens or do I do?

    Many thanks.

I no longer have Linux on my Netbook, so someone else with have to give you exact instructions.
As soon as I connected my Netbook to the Internet I was alerted to there being twenty four updates to install. Downloaded and installed them all. Soon after I was offered another two updates. One of them was the Huawei Connection Manager. Downloaded and installed it, but as my dongle had not arrived there was no way I could test it.
Before my dongle arrived, I formatted the drive and installed Windows XP.

So someone who still has the OS installed may be able to direct you as to where to find the check for updates link.
