coverage will depend where you live as with all mobile broadband, the wi-fi element is confusing. People tend to think this has wi-fi built in. It doesn't, it just means that as a subscriber to O2 PAYG broadband you are entitled to use The Cloud Wi-Fi hotspots free of charge but your laptop has to be wi-fi capable.

Buying it mostly for the free wi-fi and looked on the Cloud website but can't see anything about O2 and free access. Is having the dongle (and number) sufficient or do you have to top up or buy some initial time?

Thanks for that from the T&C's
O2 Mobile Broadband Pay & Go
O2 Mobile Broadband Pay & Go access is available to purchase either on a daily, weekly or monthly basis.
Connection to O2 Mobile Broadband Pay & Go is subject to status and agreeing to the terms of the O2 Pay & Go Airtime Contract.
Daily access provides 500MB data plus unlimited Wi-Fi through The Cloud to use within 24 hrs, weekly access provides 1GB data plus unlimited Wi-Fi through The Cloud to use within 7 days and monthly access provides 3GB data plus unlimited Wi-Fi through The Cloud to use within 30 days.
Your O2 Mobile Broadband access will expire:
    i) in the case of the unlimited Wi-Fi element, when the time period (one day, 7 day or 30 day) expires;

    and
ii) in the case of the network data element, after your data allowance is used up (500MB, 1GB or 3GB) if this used up before the time period expires or when the time period expires, whichever is sooner.
Access can only be purchased using your credit/debit card. Payment must be made using Visa, Visa Debit, Visa Electron, Mastercard, Maestro or Solo. This clause supersedes any contradictory term in the O2 Pay & Go airtime agreement
O2 Mobile Broadband access is excluded from loyalty and reward programmes including but not limited to O2 Rewards and treats.
O2 Mobile Broadband Pay & Go customers can receive SMS in the Connection Manager in box but cannot send chargeable SMS
General O2 Mobile Broadband terms apply to O2 Mobile Broadband Pay & Go.

So really the wi-fi only lasts as long as the purchased broadband access. In that case no use to me.

Numpty question coming up - apologies in advance :o

How do you use this? Does it come with a sim card - is it a special card? Can you just top up as and when you need it?

    Thanks
Comes with a sim card but you can't top it up with normal topup - you do it online with your debit or credit card.

It seems that way on the o2 site but I don't think it will actually work this way - I don't think their systems will be linked, I think you'll be able to use it all the time.

    Seatzie says:
logged in to the cloud with my mobile number and away we go
but no mention of top-up until after this so I think it worked without topup.

But at that rate they'd have no access control surely?

Can anyone confirm the wi-fi doesn't "run out". I have no need of broadband access (I have another dongle I don't use ) and only want the wi-fi to use with my iPod Touch.
