Postman left my parcels next door!

Got my order last night. Thanks Dan.
The only downside was DHL who practically forced the parcel onto my neighbours because we were out. It annoys me when they do that, how can then guarantee that person is going to give it back to me? Surely they should only deliver to the address it is marked for!
hmmm - copied from a (now closed) thread about DHL...same poster as OP here!
Ahh, that's another story.....
Maybe it's just me then - personally I like to know my parcels are we people I trust.0 -
Well I would suggest then - if it's such a huge issue - is that when you order stuff either
1. Stay in until it comes
2. Inform the company from whom you are ordering that you will not accept, or pay for, items delivered to an address other than your own
3. Move to get better neighbours:rolleyes:
4. Go to shops and buy stuff from them

Recently, the postman attempted to deliver a parcel when I was out, however it was too big for my letter box. The postman however decided ask next door to look after the package instead of taking back to the delivery centre. Is this allowed? I complained to the Post Office as the parcel could have contained anything, yet they gave it to a complete stranger!
Still waiting to hear back after a week after complaining. Btw, I did get the parcel from next door - but still angry.Like good food and drink?

I totally agree with you JMC39.
And also is not as simple to do / act upon some of the comments on this post .
I don't actually think the neighbours were the actual issue to be quite frank.0 -

Our postie often leaves the parcels with my neighbour, however i did have a parcel delivered from DHL a while ago, the delivery man had decided to leave it in the backgarden, but against the back gate is a garden rubbish bin which was full so the delivery driver decided to throw the item over the gate and bin which landed in a puddle(which he could see as the gate is the height of the bin) good job it wasen't breakable.0

its funny too cos whenever a neighbour collects a parcel from me they always tell me what's in it. None of my business, 'its a book or a kettle cos my old one blew up'...I don't ask them they just want to seem to justify the parcel to me!!0

Are you my neighbour???
Recently I took in a parcel for my neighbour, thinking I was being helpful and doing the neighbourly thing..... The parcel contained his new wig and the accessories and paraphenalia - and the reason I knew this, as the contents inventory was stuck to the outside of the box.
I took it next door to him when I came home from work and when I left the next morning, he had stuck notices to his house instructing that no more parcels were to be left with neighbours, and informed the postie/delivery company of a safe place they could be left.
Im sure he was more embarrassed than annoyed that they had been left with me personally......and had the contents of the box not been stuck to the outside, he may still be happy for me to take them (as I had done in the past).
I feel that of all the things going on in the world and the challenges we are all faced with, complaining about where your parcels are left is a bit petty.
As I know I am out most of the day, I ask for my parcels to be delivered to work where possible.
Cant see why this is such an issue unless, like my neighbour, you are simply embarrassed (with no real reason to be) about what your having delivered!!Sometimes lurking, sometimes posting, but always flying

When I was working I was very grateful to the neighbours who took in parcels for me.
Now I am retired I am happy to pass the favour on if I am at home.0 -
i suggest you have a right go at the postie about this
the exercise in going to collect all your parcels from now on may extend your life0
