I have no problem getting a mortgage.
House prices are the problem. Hello? Recession anyone?
Well you're very lucky then because as i posted links first time buyers are stuggling to get mortgages because of the bank situation...
Just because you can get one doesn't mean others can....
And as the poster i was replying to has already lowered the price and so we have we and it's made little difference then price isn't an issue really...
and thank you you've reminded me why i don't post so much on this thread anymore which is a shame as it used to be such a helpful thread before those of you who knew supposedly better decided to come and pick pieces off those in trouble...0 -

All I said was that I don't have difficulty getting a mortgage and that high house prices are the problem.
Your demonising of any rival opinion is truly sinister.
High house prices are the problem. High house prices damage everything.
Let us go back 15 years and imagine a 50K FTB house; FTB1 (with 10% deposit(5k)) borrows 45K to buy the house. 5 years pass and the house price doubles to 100K; the next FTB2 comes along and also has (10k) 10% deposit and therefore she has to borrow 90K to buy the house. Another 5 years pass and the house price doubles again to 200k; FTB3 (with 10% deposit(20k)) has to borrow 180k to buy the house. Do you think this is sustainable? Has FTB income kept pace? Do you think house prices can double indefinitely? Do you think deposit sizes can double indefinitely?
Do I have sympathy for people struggling to sell? A bit; but not if they are not prepared to do what is necessary to sell. Do I have sympathy for sellers who are in negative equity? Not really, as I equally don't have sympathy for people who lose money gambling. Houses have been treated as an investment, investments do go down as well as up.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Well myself and the other poster had done what you suggested and dropped the price and it was making very little difference....Not that it matters now in my case now anyway.
This always has been a thread to provide help and advice not have people telling them that they're wrong or it's their own fault, a fair few of us left this thread last year because we had a lot of buyers come on here criticise the way we were selling and accusing us left right and centre which also put a lot of newbies off as well...
If people like yourself want to discuss house prices and the fact they're too high there is a board specifically to do so..
My post was not sinister by any means...0 -
I didn't criticise anyone. You said mortgages are the problem (an statement that evokes debate); I said, no, house prices are a problem. If every different opinion is a criticism them It is surely a hard life for you.

I was stating a fact to ease the original posters doubts, it's called helping. If i wanted to debate i would have gone on the board i mentioned but i didn't....
My post was in no way threatening or demonic...0 -
You weren't stating a fact. Like myself, you were stating an opinion.
The dearth of 90% mortgages is due to the fact that the banks fully expect house prices to drop. The demand for 25% deposits indicates that they expect house prices to fall by a significant amount. Deposits protect the lender.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
To repeat something I said last year; best to ignore the trolls and they will go away, debating with them simply encourages them more.0

Agreed.
But sometimes they need their sinister approach to be challenged.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
