Has he hell! I think he forgets he was planning to!

When you say fixed, what needs doing to your teeth? I've just been told I need braces for 2 years, and I'm very pouty about it!

I need a brace too, not been to the orthodontist yet though so not sure how long I'll need one or how much it will cost! As long as it's invisible I don't really care!

Yeah I'm waiting on the referral, was only told 3 or 4 days ago but my dentist estimates 2 years. I think my teeth are too far forward anyway, so two birds with one stone, but I know they can only minimise how much it is visible, and the cost is more than a little concerning.

    It's been a while ... :o

I have to be quick as my colleague will be here soon - I'm working from home at the moment & my colleague is coming over today.

This is the third week in my new job & it seems to be really good so far ... looking forward to the first pay day! My old employer 'forgot' to pay me my annual that they owed - 8 days so I'm still waiting for that! Will call them again today.

My mobile broke which really upset me - I know it's just a phone but it was brilliant & it broke for no reason & it just feels like everything is changing at the moment ... but I'm over that now, had to go back onto contract to get a another good phone but it's still only £15 a month but I'm tied into it for 2 years.

Start uni this week ... not sure if I'm more nervous or excited but it's definitely one of those!

LB is just being lovely. I really am a very lucky girl! :D

LB & I have decided that we aren't going to America next year (although I am hoping a little bit that we find amazingly cheap flights & can still go but don't tell LB!).

But this means that I now have £5,100 for LB. :D

    Will catch up more later!

Sounds like a good decision on America.

Have you been to any of the wedding Fayres yet? Goulish events, but free cake, and more importantly I was at one yesterday where there was an orthodontics practice. They gave me a voucher to make the initial consultation free (usually £90, same as the place my dentist has refered me to, might even be the same place?!), and she showed me lots of plastic jaws with braces on to see the white braces (not bad, but still too obvious for my taste), teh invisalign ones (like a clear plastic gumguard, again not bad but rubbish if you have gappy teeth as they would be really obvious in the gaps!), and then lingual ones, which are traditional braces but on the inside of the teeth rather than the outside, so completely not noticeable but might take a while to get used to talking with them in. I've been advised any of the non-nhs train track options will cost £3-4.5k per jaw, luckily I only need the top jaw doing but between the braces and my OHs second degree costs it looks likely we're going to have to put the wedding back 6 months unless his dad offers to help us, or his work pays for part of the degree.

Hi Dinah! My jaw actually dropped when I read the 3.5 - 4k!!! My dentist guessed at 2k, but I have a feeling he didn't know what he was talking about! You were very lucky on the free consultation! I have a dentist check up on 22nd September so I will ask for more info then ... can't say I'm really looking forward to that!

LB & I have decided on a car, which is actually going to cost more that the 9.5k!!! But it seems like my car is worth around 3-3.5k which will help. LB is saving like a mad man and we have agreed that if we both save for the car then he will help pay for my braces (although I told him 2k!!) and we will probably have to pay for the rest of my university, this first year is being paid for my a contract that my old work had. At the moment one year costs £2150, but will obviously go up every year and in total I have 4.5 years to do! Then it's the wedding to pay for. I had thought £6k - £8k max but that will barely cover anything. Although, MiLTB has already said that she would like to help, I would like to pay for everything ourselves & then see where we are. And we are trying to clear our mortgage! (Actually as we are on a interest only it's more like just pay some of it!)

On the job front, my new boss has agreed to offices a 5-10 minute drive away from my home which is brilliant. I get Health Care after 1 year with them, and it seems that I'm going to be line managing someone which should help to increase my wages!!

We are having a BBQ on Sat 26th Sep to introduce my parents to LB's as they haven't met yet! Bit nervous about this but we have some friends coming so it's a little less intense!

Must get back to work ...

My parents and NIMs haven't met yet either, his dad is hopefully coming over in spring to meet them, but my mum is of the opinion that if she ever has to meet his mother it will be too soon! My dentist told me 2k-2.5k too, but apparently thats for metal 'normal' braces, if I want fancy white or invisible or lingual ones, its a whole lot more (why, lingual are the same material just on the inside!)

What kind of car are you getting for 9.5k?!?!?! I thought we were splashing out looking to get one at 6k!

I bought a car in 2007 for £5.5k which I thought was loads but LB loves his cars & used to have a subaru impreza & wants something with a bit of go! We're looking at getting a Seat Leon fr for hopefully no more than £14k!! I know, I know it's outrageous but he gave his car up for me & it is a gorgeous car! Lovely to drive and will actually be more cost effective than my 206.

However, I should learn not to talk to quickly!! Went to uni today to find out that my funding has been pulled & I will have to my the £2150 myself!! I'm not really surprised that they have pulled the funding but I'm surprised that no-one told me!!!

So now it's back down to £3000 that I have saved!

Guess LB will have to wait a little longer! (Defo not going to America now unless it's under a fiver!!)

Eeek thats a nasty shock. What is the course in?

Could you not get a slightly older version of the same car? Seats are known to depreciate very, very quickly, and erm, well, arent overly reliable (I should know, we had one.....I think .....spent so long in the garage we forgot we had it at times!). If you get one a bit older at least you'll miss out the depreciation. If you had to borrow 10k over 3 years to buy a car, you'd pay around 2k in interest, and at the end of the three years the car is only worth about 4k, its kind of terrifying looking at it!

It's a counselling diploma, for three years so will cost over £6k! The degree is another 18 months after that!

LB has done lots of research & seems happy with the Leon. We're either going to get a ex demo one from a dealer (so it will be less than a brand new car & will be 1 year old so it will have already depreciated but have low mileage) or LB has found a place that source them directly from the manufacturer for up to 30% less (he's bought a car this way before). We won't be getting a loan or finance so at least won't have the interest to pay! LB will just have to wait until we can afford it!
