Vent! Tesco and carrier bags (and lying staff)

Having said that I am always forgetting my bags when I go shopping, they are on the back seat of my car and I go in without them.
Gullible Schmuck. We are doing this on the pretext of helping the environment but it is actually inflating the supermarkets profits. Personally I find the carrier bags extremely useful and will alternate weekly between those you can recycle and those you cannot. The first shop to refuse me a carrier bag will have the staff putting the goods back on the shelf as I walk out. We pay enough money for mediocre produce in these places without being ripped off for plastic bags."There's no such thing as Macra. Macra do not exist."

I think the point the OP was getting at, isn't the bag issue, its the lying that went on, No customer deserves to be lied to, as I saw it, the OP wasn't offered ANY free bags even AFTER purchasing a BFL.
But WORSE the cashier felt it right to tell the Op a blatant lie.
I seriously doubt the Cashier was intentionally trying to lie to the customer. It would have either been misinformation or a direct order from their Line Manager. I have been in this job position myself and we can be written up for not following intructions.
Having said that, I can appreciate the customers frustration and I would advise they take it up with Management who can actually effect change, instead of the poor cashier who just ends up stressed.0 -
I've no problem with getting complaints about the bags, but calling someone fat has nothing to do with bags. That's just rude and there's no reason for it.Spartacus_Mills wrote: »Well I do not blame him at all. These pathetic officious jobsworths need to realise who the customer is and who pays their wages. We put up, far too often, with poor service from people and condescending comments from people there to serve us. I have had it sometimes and I am never rude to checkout staff. I have had occasion to complain in the past about it. You don't need it.0 -
Having been stood literally behind the OP when this happened, I can personally confirm that the cashier DID indeed lie blatantly to the OP, if that was as a result of being ordered to, it says a lot for the storeI seriously doubt the Cashier was intentionally trying to lie to the customer. My sympathies do not stretch even nearly to the "poor cashier" -(lets not forget poor LYING cashier), as anyone who feels the need to lie blatantly, should not even be in that position.
Misinformation was aimed towards the customer, who even pointed to other cashiers handing out bags, but was still told she would have to buy another BFL.
The Op did indeed go to customer complaints, who told her that the cashier should not have done that (which even I gathered) and refunded her for the extra BFL.
If I was to lie to any customers in my work, (no matter how trivial) I would be frog marched out with my P45 shoved up one of my orifices.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

I dont drive so I walk to the supermarket and back when I need to get a few bits and it annoys me when you only get given 1 bag - they dont seem to realise that not everyone can just shove it in the car boot and its a pain to carry one overstuffed bag back that you just know is going to split when you're crossing the road - surely I'm causing less damage to the environment by walking there and back than the damage that giving me one extra bag would do?! xxPay Debt by Xmas 16 - 0/12000

most of tescos staff seam to be unhappy i wonder why?
I know I digress but what is it with Tesco workers constantly talking between themselves as to when they are going on their break. Its so unprofessional and grates on my nerves. I cant shop in Tesco anymore as I hate their ethics.0 -
Surely you could take your own bags if this happens often.I dont drive so I walk to the supermarket and back when I need to get a few bits and it annoys me when you only get given 1 bag - they dont seem to realise that not everyone can just shove it in the car boot and its a pain to carry one overstuffed bag back that you just know is going to split when you're crossing the road - surely I'm causing less damage to the environment by walking there and back than the damage that giving me one extra bag would do?! xx0 -
If you're going in for a pre-planned shop, take the jute bags with you - it's much less hassle!
