Ds is like a little radiator, he is a very hot baby. The heat is making him grumpy and thirsty. He loves cuddles though, we keep ending up all sweaty!Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0 -
Morning girls. I'm working from home again today - thank goodness as we had the worst night in ages. DH is dying with man flu and did nothing but blow his nose then sniff. Oh, apart from wake me up to tell me I was snoring. I can only sleep in two positions - left side or right side - and that's hard enough without having to try not to snore as well! Then Imogen was up at 2.30am having weed on her potty (:T) but apparently she banged her toes/bum when getting up. So she appeared at her door with knickers up but PJ bottoms round her ankles :rotfl: Good job I'd heard her crying and was there as she opened the door.
Luckily DH got her up and MIL picked her up at 7am so I managed another couple of hours in bed before getting up and starting work - hurrah for flexi-time!
Prams - M&B have done a test of lightweight buggies this month. And the winner is...
Best value - the Chicco CT0.6 at £59.99. Weighs 5.5kg and got 4 stars overall. The cons were about a small basket (it's a buggy!), folding it up and a difficult recline. Pros were the storage bag, easy to push, cool colours, narrow so good for shopping, and a sturdy frame for such a small price.
Best buy - Baby Jogger City Mini at £180 () Weighs 7.5kg and got 4.5 stars overall. Cons - too heavy, not much storage and wheels stick out when folded up, bulky. Pros - folds easily, can be carried with baby under the other arm, good to push and easy to use brake, comfy handle, sturdy and substantial.
Think I know where my money would go!
Sami - duvets. I forgot to mention we got a bed set for Imogen from Asda for about a tenner with pillow, duvet and waterproof bed cover. The duvet's a bit thick for now so we're going to buy a lighter one, but it's been perfect for winter/spring.
Feelie - you're doing great and it's so not a sign of weakness to ask for help. Have you tried just going out for 10 mins (quick push of pram around the block) as a starting point and then you could build up from there. Even if you aimed to do this once a week it would be a start. I know you're scared, but do you feel any better when you're out or is it just too much?
Weezl - stinky nappies. We dry-pail ours and i add a bit of lavender oil as we go along. Can't remember having a problem with the rest of the washing smelling after it's been washed, but it's been a while. I just washed on 40 with baby vests, muslins, that kind of stuff.
And I met people by going to boobie club, sing & sign and stay & play at the local surestart. All the mums are in your position and itching to make friends so it comes relatively easily.
Right, off to do some real work now! Can't believe I'm indoors on such a fab day :rolleyes:MSE Parent Club Member #1Yummy slummy mummy club member50% slummy, 50% mummy, 100% proudImogen born Boxing Day 2006Alex born 13 July 20090 -

was it this one (in bold sorry) by any chance? I'm after a lighter buggy too as I really want to be able to do trips by public transport occasionally and the loola nearly killed me this time last year on a trip to the coast. (Although the lack of seats on the train didn't help either!)
To me the most important points are being light, comfy for baby and easy to push....last year I was seduced by a cute winny the pooh push chair that was an absolute NIGHTMARE to push so much so that a similar one was abandoned in our street recently ...obviously easier to carry the baby.:rotfl:.MSE PARENT CLUB MEMBER.ds1 nov 1997ds2 nov 2007:jFirst DDFirst DD born in june:beer:.0 -

I wouldn't be put of by the price of the expensive 'winner' tho,
My buggy was £190 rrp but I got it off ebay from a pram-a-holic who had used it "less than 10 times" there wasn't a mark on it apart from tiny bit wheel wear and I paid £75its suitable from birth too so I can use it for bump when we go to visit my sister and still have boot space for travel cot etc :T

hello ladies this heat is crazy and i see its hotter the further south you go! erin is being awful sick with the heat and she heas never been one for drinking water, any ideas on MSE baby drinks dont want to go down the route of expensive baby juice etc. also do you think i should give her it in a cup rather than bottle as shes BF????
FEELIE ask for help i know its hard but until you do they might not realise how bad things have got? or can you not get your mum to speak to them?? or like sami said write it downWhat's for you won't go past you0 -
Caz - she's quite young to be having anything else really, but I tend to use pure juice (apple is my fave) really watered down - like one part juice to five parts water.
But if she's BF and thirsty she'll just bug for some boobie - or will drink water. It's meant to cool down from tomorrow, so don't worry too much.MSE Parent Club Member #1Yummy slummy mummy club member50% slummy, 50% mummy, 100% proudImogen born Boxing Day 2006Alex born 13 July 20090 -
