I've trimmed Chris's fringe today because it was doing my head in getting all sweaty *yuk* but now he looks a bit like Dr Spok :o

oh and Chris wanted to "do scales" ie. weigh himself on the bathroom scales he's 1stone 12lbs and I am... drum roll please... back to my pre-Edgar-post Christopher weight :D

OH taking LO to the barbers again tomorrow for haircut, went about 4 months ago and he loved the clippers. Henry went on the scales the other day after I did and weighed himself.... He was 2 stone and he's 10 months younger than Chris !!

MFD, Kellymom says that generally if you're sober enough to drive then you're sober enough to breastfeed, so unless you're planning on getting completely clattered... ;-)

Hubby and I are going away for the night just the 2 of us so it is likely to be a completely clattered kind of evening :rotfl:(loving that word - never heard it before!)

I know I can have a drink, and do indulge when I feel the need ;), but I just wasn't sure what the implications were when you have LOTS of drinks :D

I prob will need to realease some pressure before I go to sleep so it is likely that some of my house white will be wasted but at least I know if I don't pump then the milk in my breasts isn't necessarily wasted IYSWIM.

Weezl - I think we might combine BLW with some spoon feeding  it depends how it goes.
Top BLW tip from my Booby Club friend - buy some cheap cloth table cloths for underneath the highchair - easier to bung them in the washing machine than to try and clean plastic/lino.
    Ooops - forgot you were hand-washing :o

Hi all.. More bottle success this morning - 24.5ml (of 38ml) :D

Docs are really happy with Rhys today. Consultant was very surprised but impressed with the latest blood results and said that Rhys' kidney function is still heading back towards normal :D Agreed again that his muscle tone is fine - as Rhys was trying to kick the docs arm away ;)

Health visitor turned up earlier - apparently it was THIS Friday, not LAST Friday, that she was meant to come. She has a 5yo who was in special care when he was born and is now in a wheelchair so she knows what we might be facing. She's advised me to apply for Carers' Allowance now so got to look into that later. Not sure how I feel about that.. don't feel much like a "carer" (don't feel much like a mum yet!) but the money might come in handy if I'm not able to go back to work at the end of mat leave but I don't know what the future holds.. *sigh*

Oh, my godmother just arrived.. best go! TTFN.. :)

5 point harness means it comes round either side of the waist, over each shoulder and a strap between the legs. They shouldn't be able to climb out with one on.
Unless you buy a silly mothercare one with gigantic straps. Even when we stopped using ours (when she was about 18 months) Alice could get her arms out of the shoulder straps and climb out as they were so loose on the tightest setting.

Just some info on Pumping and Dumping (which I hadn't heard until Krystal mentioned it last week)

Do I have to pump and dump after drinking an alcoholic beverage?

As alcohol leaves the bloodstream, it leaves the breastmilk. Since alcohol is not "trapped" in breastmilk (it returns to the bloodstream as mother's blood alcohol level declines), pumping and dumping will not remove it. Pumping and dumping, drinking a lot of water, resting, or drinking coffee will not speed up the rate of the elimination of alcohol from your body.

So if I do pump whilst I am away for the night I will need to dump it but if I don't I will be fine to feed in the morning (or when the alcohol has left my system)

...might not fit my boobs in the car though :rotfl:

    Handy to know!
So, if I don't get totally trolleyed tonight, I can just feed as normal in the morning without dumping? I was getting a bottle of EBM ready for her first feed!
(Or.......if I get totally trolleyed and get home just in time for her 6.30am ish feed (those were the days) - I'd need to use EBM til i'd sobered up) :rotfl:

    :)

Elle, I still don't know what the future holds for my 12 year old. I'd say apply - Do it now before you've got Rhys home and you've got even less time to yourself! Knowing the system it'll probably take an age to process the application anyway!
I remember thinking 'he's my son, i don't need paying to look after him' when I was advised to apply. But I applied thinking 'every little helps!, especially if you're unable to go back to work for a while. (Anyhows - we got turned down, I earned too much - the earnings threshold was something silly like £90 a week).

Huh??? How odd! here they do quite a few readings to see what happens to the glucose levels one every 30 minutes for several hours... my fasting was fine, then they peaked and the first one was over, the next one only just over and then they dropped below the thresh hold again - hence they decided I had a glucose intolerance, but NOT GD... They just kept monitoring my glucose in my urine samples and were happy I didn't need to alter my diet - but I guess we have no history of diabetes in the family so maybe that makes a difference?

I really wouldn't worry about it causing the baby to come early based just on that result though - you could be just like me with a glucose intolarance - and they so far haven't asked me to repeat any tests after madam arrived in the world which suits me - no more needles YAY! :D

I had GD diagnosed after fasting. I was 29 weeks.

DS was born at Due date + 2, and I had to be monitored more closely than usual. It was managed with diet.
    The IVF worked;DS born 2006.

Lol :rotfl:Sounds like my OH. Someone in work asked him how he was coping with the sleepless nights (when Violet was about a month old!) - he said he's absolutely fine, she sleeps really well.

But now, she's slept for three nights running, from 7pm ish until between 6 and 6.30. :j

Ohhh my god you have no idea how much I wish I slept through Elijah's night-time wakings :p OH does the feeding, but I do most of the soothing back to sleep. He's slept through from 7.30ish to 6am or later three nights... ever :/ Generally up once in the night then up from around 6, sometimes up twice in the night; he'll be 11 months on Sunday.

As a bonus he's also just entered a phase which is probably about control or something, and what worked for 5-6 months as a bedtime routine now makes him ANGRY. So each night we're going through 5-15 minutes of screaming and wailing before he eventually settles :( sigh.

Also - what else do you feed your little ones for lunch? I dont want to make her sick of pasta, sausages, noodles, toast etc

So far - and he's not old enough to really voice opinions yet - we're doing fine with feeding him whatever we eat, with a bias towards extra bananas, strawberries, plain yogurt whenever he needs feeding and it's not our own meal-time. We try to eat a reasonably varied diet so he does too. We do keep some pots of baby food around for when we're feeling really lazy, but he enjoys feeding himself solids far more anyway. Pretty much ish BLW but fairly casual about it.

We tried baby rice when we first started weaning (6.5 months or so - he wasn't much bothered before then, but had been getting more and more interested in watching us eat). We found Elijah was more interested in the baby porridges, with a bit of fruit puree in sometimes, but once he put a bit of weight on (he was well below the bottom percentile due to reflux so it was a worry) we gave up on them and stuck with BLW type food.
