Glam how many of them were above the thresh hold? just the one or all the samples after the second one?
sorry if I seem really nosey :)

The fasting one at 5 was normal it was just the one after the drink that was 7.8. They didn't do anymore. Have been today and got my kit to test my own blood sugars at home but I'm not too worried as I am hoping to manage it by sticking to diet! Not very easy in this weather and with posting on pregnancy thread - you know what they are like!
SM is keeping me on the straight and narrow.
Sounds great Glam, and they must really want you if they're willing to take you on pregnant! Well done you :D (How have your current employers taken it?)

I've not told them yet! :o I know they will be really horrible about me going and try to get me stay but I don't want to!

CG - hugs to you and your family.

(sneaks back to the pregnancy thread but wants to look at sir con units before she does!!)

CG - that awful for your SIL and her OH! I don't think there is anything you can say in those situations, poor things makes me feel very silly as I was just about to winge about stupid verified by visa but I shall just keep my mouth shut and be thankful for my boys!

Hi all.. Thankyou for everything you said last night :o I did go back to the hospital and by the time we got home I was just too knackered to come back online.

Have seen the speech therapist again this morning. I think the nurse had had a stern word with her before I got there as she's now changed track on the breastfeeding and saying she was only looking at it from the kidney/fluid balance POV (not what she's there for!) and not from the sucking so is now saying there is no harm in trying after all - both  and :D Rhys took 9ml from a bottle this morning. He was wide awake but also very interested in looking around the room, looking a bit bemused as to why everyone was watching him! Speech therapist said she's much more encouraged this morning that he has a good swallow, so less risk of choking and fluid going on to his lungs, and he just needs to keep practising with the bottlefeeding to master his long, productive suck rather than the quick soft suck he does on a dummy. She's told me some exercises to do with him and is coming back on Monday morning to see how we're getting on.

Also saw the consultant this morning. He seems positive and still eager to work towards getting Rhys home :D He wants extra blood tests to see if Rhys' anemia is due to his kidney function or whether it could just be as a result of his prematurity - it's always been treated as due to his kidney function hence three of the drugs he's on, but if it turns out not to be totally down to his kidneys he can start coming off the meds. The SHO finally got hold of Notts who have decreased some meds already and we also have a plan for what to do next depending on what todays results say so no hanging about this time. I asked if Rhys needed a physio referral (my mission now is to get him as many referrals as he needs as it gets him on the lists quicker and therefore home quicker ;)) but consultant thinks all his movements and muscle tones are normal for his gestation so nothing extra to deal with there :)

I bought five books on child development this morning from the £2 bookshop in town. Obviously not well researched but they've got lots of info in for now until I get a specific one like the one Claire mentioned. Have only met the Health Visitor once - she was supposed to come to the hospital to see us last Friday but didn't show up  She'll be contacted with all the discharge planning meeting stuff so hopefully we'll see her again soon and get the red book :)

Righty, must make myself some lunch.. Got my grandparents coming to the hospital this afternoon. Grandad has now decided he does what a cuddle after all ;)

Thats great elle I am really pleased for you :)

BTW the red book was given to us by the hospital I gave birth in, not the NNU or the heath visitor, so I would ask them if they already have it.

CG, ((hugs)) to your SIL. I had a friend who went through it last year. Went in to see MW as she was having cramps at 23 weeks and they told her the babys heart beat was almost gone. She had to deliver the still born. There is absolutely nothing you can do or say to them, just be there if they need you for support or a shoulder to cry on.

yep !!! even the nurses were impressed at how much he was eating !!! Considering he was on fluid only for 4 days before they introduced milk and he is 15 days today, he is already back up to birth weight and has gained an extra 1 1/2 oz !!!!
He is def his daddys son. Eat, sleep, fart and eat some more :)
