    hello :hello:

I am hoping to join u ladies in a few months but wondered if you would give me the benefit of your wisdom?

I am looking for a mattress for my LO's cot bed but there seems to be soooooo many types. I personally have a lovely memory foam mattress and can't sleep on a sprung mattress but have no idea what is best for baby.

What do you think is the best mattress type? What would u recommend/avoid?

    Thanks Glam

Agreed! I used to listen to Kings of Leon or The Killers, loud, in the car on my way to work and it used to make my baby dance in my tummy! She still likes it now.

One of my Booby Club mummy friends gave me a tip for when the baby is crying in the car - turn the stereo up loud!! It really startles baby and makes them quieten down... you can then turn back down to normal volume. It works for Benjamin!!
Before anyone rings childline on Benjamin's behalf...not ear splitting volume - just loud enough to make him sit up and listen IYSWIM!

Mine too - but she's just about getting the hang of rolling herself back now!

Had a blonde moment earlier - I was just about to book the ferry for our hols to Dublin next month. When I realised, Violet hasn't got a passport or any other photo id!

Where do you go to get baby passport photos done? or do I hold her above my head in a photo booth! :rotfl:

Google baby passport photo and your local town and you will prob get a list of places that do them. Go to one that is approved to take Passport Photos and they will guarantee that they won't get rejected. Although the rules are much less strict for babies anyway.
Benjamin looks like a criminal in his :rotfl:
:rotfl:Poppy does this too, especially in the Dr's Surgery - everyone going in and out is greeted with 'hello' or 'bye-bye'! :D

    xx

Ah bless her - she always looks like a little angel with all that curly hair!!

Hi everyone. Hope you dont mind, but I have just copied and pasted what I had put on the preg thread as it is a long winded post

I phoned the hospital this morning to see if Dylan could come home and was told that they werent sure yet, and I was to phone back at lunch time. Waited round for another 4 hours, and called again at 12.30 to be told that the consultant did not want to send him hime, and that he wanted to talk to me before discussing it any further . Well panic sets in and I got my FIL to take me up straight away.
We go in and it is feeding time, so I did his cares and fed him and sat there waiting for the consultant for nearly 2 hours.

Finally got in to see him and he said that they were happy with Dylans feeding but wanted to let us know the future before he came home. Wewerent told much about his ride up to NICU in the ambulance that 1st night other than he took a bad turn and was put on 100% O2, but it seems that he did not get enough oxygen for a short period of time and may have had a short period of time where he was oxygen deprived. Because of this they feel that there may be future consequences of brain damage, but nothing major, so they asked a neurologist to come and see him this morning and she is not happy with his arm movements and thinks there is a possibility of him developing a degree of ceribal palsy (sp??) but there is no way of knowing this early on.

So I just sat there and cried, as you do, and Chris just looked at me. Have had all afternoon to think about it now, and it is only a chance, but he has to see a pediatrician for the next 2 years to check his development stages closely.

So thats my day ... not quite what I had planned

Still should have him home either tomorrow or Wednesday, but will have to visit the hospital a few times in the next 2 years.

    Hiya Glam!

I went for a M&P sprung mattress, not the most expensive but the next one down. They sell them on a kind of 'better for baby' scale and 'better for baby' usually equals more expensive.

I think sprung is better than foam but that is about as far as my knowledge goes - I refused to google cot mattresses because all you get is horror stories of cot death.

Hope you are doing okay in this heat!

  • MM ((HUGS)) hun.

We had a scare when Benjamin was born and they were talking about a palsy (not cerebral but a different one - can't remember) 15 weeks on and we are most of the way to getting him cleared and discharged. It's a horrible shock but sometimes they are just being careful.

I would ask for an appointment with someone to sit down and go through exeactly what happened though - not yet but in a month or 2 when your brain is functioning a little better.

I asked to see the notes, and they said they would let me see them at his 1st check up if I still wanted to.
Not sure if I want to know what happened or not, cant be changed. Hopefully everything will be OK, but they will not give a diagnosis this early, have to wait and see.

    thanks MFD

I'm OK thanks - but the last week or so I've really struggled with this whole pregnancy thing. The heat, lack of sleep, uncomfortable all the time, swollen feet and heartburn. I'm struggling to carry my bump - I am literally all bump and I'm not used to the extra weight! Sounds silly I know but I feel like I need to physically carry my bump around like a sack of spuds!!

    12 weeks to go!

That's probably a really healthy way of looking at it.
One thing is for sure...we will be here to listen and support every step of the way!

Don't know what I would have done without this forum and the friends I have made on here :A

I'm the same. I just needed to tell someone that I wasnt fine about this, and cant do that with my family. They are all bigger worriers than me. Here is perfect, there is always someone to listen, and give a nice virtual hug !!
