BEWARE of eBay final value fee of 10.0% for sellers!

I think a lot of people are missing the point here & unfairly criticising the OP.
Ebay has always been a cheap place to sell. Now it is not - no other "shop" could hike it's fees so much and simply get away with it.
I have recently been stung by a £42 bill thanks to final value fees. It's simply not worth selling on Ebay anymore as the cut they take is astronomical compared to previous. And previous behaviour is what most people base their instincts on.
I'm a casual user, so a £42 bill for posting a few items on Ebay to make a bit of money to pay the bills is frankly, quite shocking but also in my opinion close to stealing from me.
BTW, who cares if it's an old thread. One thread for one subject surely - if it's still valid, it is still valid.0 -
Take your items to a proper auction house then and see how much they charge!!
The 10% flat rate is great I think, I know exactly how much i have to pay if it sells for X amount and it has a £40 limit. The only cheap well to see stuff is via the carboot but you wont get the prices you get on ebay most of the time.Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -

The OP has not logged in for over 2 years so it seems immaterial as to whether or not we are missing the point. However I do believe that the comments are still valid, it is still cheaper than many other selling venues, and i know as I sell across many different formats.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Also you new the fees before you listed. if you didn't like them you could have gone elsewhere you didnt so I assume you were happy that ebay was your best venue. Your choice your decision.'The More I know about people the Better I like my Dog'

Yes it's a fair point, but I don't think anyone posts on this thread to get a slapped wrist. Ebay has hiked their fees due to increasing popularity so they can make even more money, most people statistically don't read all of the terms & conditions they are sent, so this makes a few more people aware.0

If sellers don't read the terms and conditions on ebay before they list then I seriously doubt they will bother resurrecting an old thread on here to read.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. As always where's there's a will there's a way - I notice now that regular buyers work the system by making an offer to the seller to end early & save the fees.0
