Thanks Bob, my evenings now seem to be spent on here again. The only things I seem to spend money on are parking, petrol and the very occasional lunch where as because DH is home during the day he'll do the usual food shopping but there is always at least three or four items in the shopping that is completely not needed.

It's so tough sometimes when you feel you are knocking yourself out while everyone else continues sailing blissfully on. Cup of tea and some teacakes time!!

Don't drink tea and the teacakes were scoffed hours ago. That is my main bugbear. Once something like that is in the house I have to have my share otherwise I start raiding the cupboards for stuff later on. If DH didn't buy it it wouldn't bother me and i would be three stone lighter than I am:o.

Aye, well we've all been there! The baking novelty does wear off after a whle I'm pleased to say! (MrEH is NOT so pleased about this - not least as I haven't made cakes for the weekend!)

That's me too generally. I even thought of buying myself some new clothes today, but just couldn't after buying DD2's glasses:o

Hope everyone has had better weather than us. We have been having heavy downpours hourly.

Managed to stay away from the car boot sale today by having a very long lie. DS was out and DD entertained herself with some dvd's. Got up at midday:o just as the rain started.

Have shown DH the spreadsheet and he looked interested .........well as interested as someone who can't even turn the computer on can be. He couldn't understand why the car insurance was on the Direct Debit page and not on the car expenses page. Tried explaining the car insurance is a known monthly quantity where as fuel, repairs etc are not. Oh well, we'll see if he eventually gets it.

Tea tonight cost nothing as it was using up lots of little bits from the freezer and some couscous to make chilli and veg couscous. We make this quite often but I usually find it quite dry but today it was really good. We now have no frozen veg left in the freezer though so a shop will be needed soon.

DH went out to work early again tonight. He needs to make at least £70 tonight to cover fees tomorrow. Fingers crossed he'll do it. It has been horribly tight this last few weeks.

Just popping on to say I probably won't be posting much this week. Doing extra hours and only did 2 extra hours today and I am shattered. Leaving the house at 7.30 am tomorrow and Wednesday and won't be back until 9.30pm:eek:. Thursday and Friday I should be back by 7.00 so not quite as bad but I will be absolutely knackered by then. Extra pennies in the bank in July though.

Got some good news today. It looks like we qualify for the school clothing grant of £55 per child so need to get those forms next time I am in town.:j

  • Good news on the clothing grant. I can't believe how much they cost now, glad all three of mine are through school and were able to pass down ties, blazers, etc. They changed the uniform after they left..different tie for each year, badged skirts-different colour and pleated ( DD's pour scorn on these everytime they pass the school:rotfl:)

Well it has ended up being a couple of weeks since I last posted. Work has been very busy, looks like this month has about 50 extra hours in total:j but it has been hard going. Have another four or five extra hours this week then on holiday from Friday.

Have all the camping gear looked out, just waiting to check the long range forecast for mull tomorrow then will buy ferry tickets. Even if it is forecast light rain we are going as we really need a break. Money will be very tight but if we spend most of the week on the beach we won't need to spend too much. Children have started counting down the days.

MSE stuff - found 2 x 20p in a couple of lockers at the swimming pool. Made apple and cherry crumble with the last of last years apples (frozen) and 49p cherries from Aldi's. My cherries are not quite ready yet. Have had my first strawberry - only one ripe. Peas, beetroot and lettuce growing well. First two lots of carrots doing really well and have been eating the thinnings as baby carrots. Second two lots are not doing quite so well - not sure why.

I am sure there was other stuff I wanted to report here but can't remember now.

Off to put a mention on a few diaries. Have been keeping up with them as now have them on email reminders, just haven't logged on to add anything yet.
