  • Got home from work and DS comes up to me and says 'you know if you have something precious but you can't find it and have been looking for ages? If somebody found something precious would they get a reward for finding it?' me, 'maybe but depends how precious and how lost it had been'. He disappeared and came back with ..........

    ..........

    my camera:j:j:j woohoo!

Then the haggling started:rotfl: him '£3' me '£1' him '£2.50' me '£1 and you don't have to owe me the 70p extra postage you are owing'. This is for an ebay item he had asked me to get him. So he was happy with that. Apparently according to DH when he had first found the camera he had been going to ask for £2, then increased it to £5 and then again to £10 but DH told him not to push his luck or he would end up with nothing:rotfl: . It turned out the camera was inside a box of stuff I had looked out for ebaying:o.

Now just to find the charger:rolleyes::rotfl:.

  • Well ended up getting a bt engineer out yesterday as my broadband keeps coming and going and I have done everything it says to try so the engineer came and had a look, did various tests can't find a problem with the line so has recommended to BTretail to send out a new hub. Apparently they have had problems with them. Last night I was offline but so far today it has been working. Not sure how long it will take for a new one to get here though. Hopefully not long as I have withdrawal symptoms:D. And hopefully that will fix it.

Gave British Gas updated meter readings and we are in credit for both, gas by £90 and electric by £15. As we are still in very cold months I am happy to leave it that way. Our price protection ends in April so will have to have a shop around for a new deal and don't want to end up with a huge bill to them if we end up swapping companies.

Was sure there was more news but tummy rumbling so must go on a lunch hunt.

I am sure there are more to add but this is mostly Saturday work.

Had a lazy morning today after being up till who knows what time last night watching a DVD I must return to a colleague tomorrow. I have added tidy bedroom to the weekend list as there are things in here that were moved from the livingroom before Christmas to make way for tree and pressies and although tree etc has ben put away there is still a table and 'stuff' in the bedroom. I want my oasis of peace and calm back.

Really pleased with a 4.5lb weight loss as we were a bit more relaxed yesterday and treated ourselves to a packet of kitkats and a packet of bourbons between four of us. Think if we go the whole week without a treat we will give up and start stuffing our faces again so have agreed that Saturdays will be a more relaxed day. That doesn't give us carte blanche though. we will still watch what we eat mealwise just allow us an extra treat.

I treat myself to two papers a week. The Scotsman on the Saturday and the Scotland on Sunday. I prepay them so get about a 35-40% discount and use vouchers over the counter. Well yesterday after having been to the shop for the paper, birthday card and milk, I get home to see the postie has been and there is a letter from The Scotsman. Their prices have gone up but the vouchers are still valid for the full cost of the paper so if there are any discrepancies to let the shopkeeper know as some shops may be a bit slow in updating their scanners. Well I hadn't noticed at the time so checked my receipt, sure enough I didn't get the full refund and have been charged 10p at Tesco for my Scotsman:mad:. I thought i was doing really well as I had found 1p in the carpark. Oh well a 9p loss for yesterday. DH will get the Scotland on Sunday from the coop so I'll make sure he gets the full refund. According to the letter that now gives us a 45% discount as the vouchers will still cost the same.

  • Has it really been a whole week since I last posted to my own diary:o? Life has been tres busy this week. Did 31/2hours overtime, have managed a few more NSD's and lost another 1.5lbs weight so quite a good week. DS had a better one with a £25 win on the premium bonds. :j Thats a total of £125 he has won. DD has won £50 in the past but she doesn't have as many as he has.

Didn't do a list for this weekend as wasn't sure if we would even be here. There was a chance I was going to take the kids to stay with a friend but we didn't get it organised finally so maybe another time.

The downstairs of the house is tidy, which is a miracle. We'll see how long that lasts. Upstairs I dare not look at. I have only ventured upstairs twice so far this year and one of those was to show the bt engineer where the main phone socket was. None of us actually have a room upstairs. The kids use one as a playroom come dumping ground and the other is used as a major dumping ground. There is still stuff in boxes from when we moved and a box of stuff I got together to do a carboot last year which never happened. Oh well hopefully make some money off it this year.

  • Another week has passed. One more and we'll be in February. Been quite a good week all round.

I have lost another lb taking my total weight loss for three weeks to the half stone:j. Really pleased with that as it gives me a kick start and now I just want to lose 1lb every week to keep me on target.

I started giving myself £10 every Monday to cover parking at work and lunches on the two days I would need it, plus my £1 for the weekly lottery at work and it was going really well. At the end of week three - last Friday - I still had £16 so last weeks tenner was never touched. I've managed to park outwith work and walk the extra distance every day except Thursdays where the time I start is too awkward to find a free space, so the extra walking will be helping with the weight loss too. However DH had to raid my purse yesterday to get fuel so I'll be starting from scratch again tomorrow. I've managed to meet my NSD target already thanks to not having so many parking fees to pay for. February is a shorter month and the kids have three days off at half term so not going to up my target for that month but think I will for March.

And DH has been adding £2 coins to my tin without letting on. It's now at £52:T.

My lists haven't got any shorter. Still don't have anything on Ebay. Missed the free posting last week. But more stuff has been looked out so will just have to have a day of photo taking and uploading and just need to get on with it.

Oh and I STILL haven't waxed my legs:eek:. I refuse to buy any more wax as I know I have at least enough for two more sessions it's just I can't remember where they got put away to before Christmas:o. Oh well deforestation may commence in Feb sometime:rotfl:.
