Well the car was as bad as quoted. £575. We got it out this morning. It needs to go back in for another part that has been ordered but there will be no further costs thankfully. It is now safe to drive and passed its MOT. The one saving grace is the garage uses Volvo parts so although expensive they are very good quality - one set of brake discs cost the same amount as what we last paid for two sets of brake discs AND pads!.
I now have a list in front of me of things I must do this week. Car insurance, house insurance to be got through quidco and my expenses sheet all need to be done by Friday so I have told DH he is dealing with DD in the morning so I can get on here and try and get it all done then.
KJ how small is small boy? My DS and his friends dug a hole big enough to bury all three of them in. He has an area of the garden that (at the moment) he is allowed to do what he wants in within reason, however once we have the rest of the garden sorted out we will be needing that area for a greenhouse (hopefully). I love mowing the lawn but any time recently when I have had the time to do it it has been far too wet to cut so DH has ended up doing it on dry days while I am at work. I have an area I desparately need dug over but he always finds something else to do instead! Maybe I should get DS and friends to do it since they like digging, but then it wont be as much fun as digging a six foot deep hole. When we used to have a dog we just pointed to the ground and said 'dig dig' and he quite happily dug the ground over for us.The person who moves a mountain begins by carrying small stones.

Hi SM - ferries to Lochmaddy (North Uist) and Tarbert (Harris) go from Uig which is at the North west of Skye. There are two crossings a day for the most part to each of the destinations but the Calmac site will confirm details for the dates you're looking at. Crossings from Ullapool are to Stornoway on Lewis. There are lots of places to camp although not a great many actual campsites that I know of.....more on Lewis I believe. Some websites suggest that camping is allowed in the grounds of the hostel on Berneray and if so then you'd be able to use the hostel's facilities.
Ouch again to the cost of the car repairs although as you say at least you know it's a good quality job with quality parts.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Well done Scottishmummy!
Can I ask a wee question though? I've seen loads of references to Quidco and have looked at the website, but how do you actually use it? I'm am lost!0 -
Hi Swinstie, you need to register with them first then when you need to do any internet shopping have a look at quidco first to see if the company you are buying from are linked from there. If they are go to their website via the quidco link. You will then get a percentage of your purchase back in cash paid to your bank account. They keep back the first £5 each year for admin costs and sometimes it can take as much as three months to get the cashback but I am just about to go into my third year with them and have earned over £300:j. I use it for insurances and christmas shopping mostly - tesco direct, Game, bookpeople etc but you can also do daily clicks where you can earn a few pennies daily. I am not good at remembering to do the daily clicks so could probably have earned a few tens of pounds more than I have. There is a daily clicks thread somewhere I think. The person who moves a mountain begins by carrying small stones.

Good going with Quidco, i am waiting for payout this month..mmmmBlackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

The £75 for house insurance has validated which is quicker than average. Car insurance hasn't tracked yet and their average is one day so will need to keep an eye on that one. Currently awaiting a total of £140:j from there minus my £5 which is due this month.
Last night I got my expenses form filled out. Just under £30 this month. Wages went in today and they were a little more than expected which is always a good thing. Got some clothes bargains today at Tesco - £50 worth of clothes for only £10 cash which DH paid for. Thanks to 20% off and exchanging £15 of clubcard vouchers for £30 off.:D
Sitting here yawning so gonna go have a drink then off to bed, night night. The person who moves a mountain begins by carrying small stones.
