Hi Scottishmummy,
I'm not a mummy (yet) but I am Scottish! I find having a diary really helps, you can write down all news, good or bad! Mines being bad today with a huge phone bill I didn't expect (got broadband in), but hey ho it could be worse. Will subscribe and look for updates - bummer about the car!0 -
hello from another Scottish mummy. Cars are absolute money pits, we have two and it seens to be every month or two one needs something doing to it.
I also need to start ebaying. I have lost 3 stone and I have clothes still with tags on that obviously no longer fit that I should really try sell plus I have a 10 month old and she has tonnes of clothes she never wore for what ever reasonMF aim 10th December 2020 :j:eek:MFW 2012 no86 OP 0/2000

Hi Swinstie, so far my diary seems to be only bad news but there is hope on the horizon.
Hi LP, I've been reading your diary as I noticed you are in Tayside, not too far from me, makes it seem more local IYKWIM. Don't think I have posted on it yet though.
Spent all afternoon worrying about where to find the money to pay for the MOT when it occured to me we have been over paying on the mortgage since the rates went down. Thought I might be able to reduce the June payment a bit to make things more manageable. So I phoned them tonight and it turns out we have made enough overpayments to take a three month holiday. :j We won't need that but knowing we don't need to find the money for June means we can pay the MOT and then use the mortgage money to pay for the other regular stuff over the month. What a relief. Still need to see if the garage are happy to wait for half of their money till next week when I get paid but we have used them for over ten years so I hope loyalty counts. The person who moves a mountain begins by carrying small stones.

*Waves* - hello SM - glad you've got yourself a diary! Wretched cars eh? Thankfully mine is new enough to not need MoT'ing yet - I positively loathe taking cars to MoT. I'll cross my fingers that yours doesn't come in quite so bad as you think.
Never been to Coll or Tiree so I'll be sending positive vibes to you for your £2 coin collection so you can go and tell me al about it....oh - just a thought - I take it you realise that with the new Road Equivalent tariffs on the Calmac ferries to the outer isles, you can get to North Uist or Harris for less than it would cost to Coll/Tiree? £22.40 for the car & £4.90 per passenger each way to N.Uist, whereas it's more than that even to Mull.....worth a thought?!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

SM the being able to take a mortgage break is great and should really ease things for June but if I was you I would really try and pay something to the mortgage if possible and then look at increasing your monthly amounts for MOT/car maintanence. Our car's are 7 and 3 but the 7 year old one is due a drive belt change soon and thats £250 ish.MF aim 10th December 2020 :j:eek:MFW 2012 no86 OP 0/2000

Hi mrscmr non scottish are more than welcome. Not sure why but i had you in my mind as scottish, maybe because your initials match mine pre-marriage.:D
Hi EH I didn't know about that. Is that from Ullapool? Know any wild camping areas there or reasonable campsites? I have just added another 4 (£8) to the coin collection. DH brings them home from his work and I end up pocketting them.:rotfl:
Hi LP we should have had enough for the car if we hadn't also needed a washing machine. It appears to be our emergency fund that needs increasing. I have just walked past the garage and it isn't even inside yet so doubtful we will get it back today.
Yesterday was fairly uneventful. Found 5p walking to the bus-stop after work so pocketted that too.:jThe person who moves a mountain begins by carrying small stones.
