If there are loads left on the shelve the manager will usually let things go through, but if there is little stock left the bulk buy policy applies to save availability for other customers.

I'm sure you've been on the other end of the stick and went to tesco to find out they have sold out of something.

Does anyone know if there's a stupidly low limit (ie. one) on lemons and limes at Asda. Whenever I've bought more than one lemon or lime I've had to get it approved as well as having to put them through one at a time.

I wouldn't have thought so, as I've just bought 3 from Asdas self service till at the ridiculous price of 90p. At that price your not going to buy them to sell on when all the local stores sell em for 15-20p each. It asked me how many I had as well.

I've had Tesco refuse to deliver more than 10 bottles of Pepsi from their online grocery site before, never tried buying that many instore as I couldn't carry them home :o.

I've never had a problem of buying more than 10 of the same item at any supermarket unless they have been on offer and limited to 'x' amount per customer.

I wonder if they would have said anything about the rule if you were buying 24 of an expensive item rather than clip boards. I can't see them trying to make you put 14 bottles of Whisky back at £30 a bottle.

    Good on Tesco.

I detest people who clear supermarket shelves of any half decent offer.

There should be a maximum unless off course the items are readily availble / readily made. For instance I once brought 15 french sticks. Considering Tesco had a bakery within the store it did not matter since they would just make more.

However I have seen some people degrading their human side by acting like vulchers and swiping an entire shelf of reduced items. I have seen these same people sucking the scum from an emptying bath on the hope that they will end up getting some free vitamins from the perspitation.

It made me think about this thread earlier when we were in Tesco and people were filling their trolley with as many burgers and sausages they could get their mits on because it's BBQ weather. There was a woman who put a whole display box of sausages in her trolley with about 20 packs in, I wondered if the checkout people would have said anything about the 10 per item rule seeing as she started what I can only describe as Sausage Wars in the aisles. It ended up like a strange cross between WWE wrestling and Supermarket Sweep :D

Maybe its a case of some staff aren't using common sense and waving through large quatities of the same item. Ive seen the 6 per customer rule on special offers which is reasonable and it means theres some left for other shoppers

I have a mental image now of people chasing each other brandishing sausages!! :rotfl:

Not as fun when I went to Asda today, people were just lingering in the chilled aisles because it was nice and cool!!
