  • I looked at this earlier for myself... Three networks available:- SFR, Bouygues and Orange. All three are showing as Passport Network so it doesn't matter which of the three you use.

Are you 100% sure that Freedom packs can be used abroad as the Freedom Pack T & C's state:
    3. Usage: Texts and minutes included in your Pack are for UK use only (excluding Isle of Man and the Channel Islands) to standard UK landline numbers (beginning 01, 02, 03), standard UK mobiles and voicemail. You will be charged at your standard price plan rate for any out of Pack

Yes freedom packs can be used abroad. The Vodafone Pasport and Summer Roaming promotion T&cs mean that freedom packs can be used, whilst the freedom pack olone cannot be. As long as you have vodafone Passport and are in a passport country then freedom packs count.

I use PAYG through ASDA who use Vodafone netowrk. Does this apply to that service too?

No this does not count as ASDA only use the network and their own tariffs and charges apply. Sorry, just get a Vodafone sim whilst your abroad, at the moment a Vodafone sim pack is free when you top up with £5 credit in a Vodafone Store.

Because your phone accepts a ASDA sim, thier is no need to have it unlocked or anything for a Vodafone Sim to work in it.

I am informed by Vodafone that the Freedom Pack (inclusive texts and calls for a £10 top up) CANNOT be used in the passport scheme but even using the normal vadafone simply tariff, (20ppm for calls and 10p for texts is still a very good deal:j

Can we get some official feedback from Vodafone???????
  • Hi guys,

Vodafone's press office has confirmed freedom pack credit IS eligible in the Passport scheme this summer.

    Hope that helps!

Thanks Natasha. It seems to depend on who you talk to at vodafone.

Perhaps they (Vodafone), should get their act to-gether and give all the operators the same information from the same hymn book

When i activated my freedom pack with Vodafone the automated system mention using it with the passport. It has also been confirmed a couple of times on the eforum on the Vodafone website that the two can be used in conjunction. These confirmations have been from Vodafone team members.
    Hope this helps people
    Make £10 a day challenge = Aiming for £100 a month
    May - £100.68/£100 (£80.68 cash & £20.00 vouchers)
    June - £121.04/£100 (£91.04 cash & £30.00 vouchers)
    July - £22.11/£100 (£22.11 cash & £0.00 vouchers)

No you d not have to use Freedom Packs to qualify for the free roaming offer, but freedom packs do work out cheaper than standard rates. If you are on any tariff as long as you have Vodafone Passport added (Vodafone passport is free - Pay as you go just text "passport" to 2345) then you will pay the same rates as you do at home for your calls and texts.

It does work out cheaer to use Freedom packs as the Simply PAYG price plan is 20p per min for calls and 10p per txts whereas a £10 Freedom pack would give you 100mins and 300txts.

Thanks Spanky, I've got it all sorted now:T You're right, the Freedom pack is cheaper because of the talk and text allowances.

Do you definitely have to use a Vodafone partner network to get the free roaming when you are abroad? It doesn't mention this on their website as far as I can see. Also- what is their partner network in Spain?
