I would like to use the 'travel passport for my holiday in Aus this summer. If I sign up for the 'travel passport' when I receive my new sim, do I top up to get the £10 package of minutes and texts straight away or do I have to wait until I am about to go on holiday? Basically, is there a time limit to a package top-up?0

I think the terms imply that to make calls within one of the listed countries (i.e. to ring a local number), the usual UK rate will apply. See:
a. voice calls, texts and picture messages made or sent to the UK and within the same originating Vodafone Passport country during the Offer Period will be charged your standard UK rate
If so, this seems like a very good deal, but perhaps I'm misreading the terms. I asked in the Vodafone store this afternoon but the person there didn't seem very clued up and couldn't really answer properly. They seemed to think it meant that if you call a UK mobile that happens also to be in that country it's free - I don't think that's what these terms are saying. Clarification on what actually costs for making calls are (including to the local country you're in) would be great...0 -
The vodafone passport free roaming promotion means that you pay the same rates for calls and text when in one of the countries within the Passport scheme. This means that if you are only on the standard Pay As Ypu Go tariff then you will pay 20p per min for calls and 10p for texts. If your on a contract then the calls and texts will come out of your inclusive allowance.
If you only want to use the service whilst away then it is advisable to get a pay as you go sim card, and then by a freedom pack. £10 pack gives 100 mins and 300 texts, £15 gives 200 mins and 600 texts, £20 gives you 300 mins and unlimited texts. All of these can be used whilst abroad in the vodafone passport countries.
The only things that are not included is text unlimited, free weekends, stop the clock..... the promotion only runs from 1st june to 31st august and is only available int he vodafone passport countries. After this time then it reverts back to the standard 75p connection charge and then the call comes out of your inclusive mins..... Recieiving calls during the promotion is also free..0 -
a bit off-topic, but i have a contract with 02. Whenever i go abroad to Spain I just tell o2 to add a 'Spain Bolt On' to my contract. It costs £5.00 for whole month and you can receive calls without no charge for calls 'made from the UK'. Or you can include the whole of Europe for £10 a month. There is discount on calls you make as well back to the UK.0

Hi Can anyone tell me how much it costs to call Swiss mobiles in Switzerland using the PAYG Vodafone simcard with this offer? I've had a look on the vodafone site, all I can find is the "standard" international rate of £1 a minute...0

I've just got the free sim and topped up £10.
Does this mean I automatically get the 100 mins of calls and 300 texts OR should I have bought a £10 Freedom pack? I think its the latter but I am not sure.
The other point to make is that the Freedom packs expire 30 days from when you purchase them!0 -
I've answered my own question.
If you just top up with £10 you do not get the 100 mins of calls and 300 texts.
You have to by a £10 Freedom Pack which will then expire after 30 days. This gem of information is hidden in the T&Cs.

Do you have to register via 17298? as well as texting passport to 2345?
Presumably I will have a Vodaphone number with this SIM somewhere?
Anyone got a link to top up by £10?
First time my Orange PAYG SIM has come out for years and I have had had to reset everything!!0 -
You will get your number if once you have put the sim in your phone you press *#100# on your phone pad and then press green button
