Think you'll find where the regulations are statute law, the university must abide by them.

Quick Google search would arm you with the paragraphs I mentioned. It is at their discretion what to award, and they may refuse to accept as a transfer. In reality, they should do though.
  • Yes, thank you. I googled and printed them last night. We'll make an approach to both universities and I'll post here how we get on.
  • Hoping this is the right place to ask, sorry if it isn't. I posted this over at The Student room as well, but have recieved no answers and am still sturggling to find them and so was wondering if any of you guys could help.

Basically I'm leaving on the 7th for universty (glasgow, coming from england), I think i have enough in savings to cover the deposit for accomadation and living but not tution/accomdation in full. I filled the application out before the deadline, but various reasons only sent ID on friday.

My questions basically are, when do you think it's likely I'll receive funds, if I'm going through SFE am I considered self funded, how exaclty is the money paid (are tution fees paid seperatly?), and if I've done most of the application already will the univertsty know?

Sorry if this is the wrong place, but right now I'd appreicate any help. Thanks :)

Fees will be paid directly to the university in February and May. Any other maintenance funding will be paid into your account.

I do think payment may be delayed if you have only just provided ID documents though.

So I don't have to pay fee's before I start? I realise they'll be delayed, and have enough to live on in the meanwhile as long as I don't have to pay anything up front, it's just not that much. How exactly will the mainteence loan be paid if you don't mind me asking? And thanks btw for answering, I really appreciate it :)
  • I posted a few pages back, can anyone help at all?
    Many thanks
  • I was filling out the student registrastion bit for my universty, had to do the finance section as well, except now it's showing me as owing £6750 which I don't have, espcailly not considering living/accmadtion costs as due on 16/09/2012, fincail aid sectinonshows nothing, and now I'm just totally confused. I think it thinks I'm self funded when I'm actually goverment funded...but I can't make that payment on the 16th....:s

I can't, but I'll put your original query here in case anyone can.
After much consideration and discussion with Tutors my Husband has decided to retake a 30 credit module from Year One of his course. This will be a few hours a day over two days for 30 weeks (including revsion weeks, exams etc), starting in September.

Our household consists of me (working part-time) and our two children, one of which is at Nursery.

Last year we recieved the usual childcare grant, adult dependant grant, Parents learning allowance etc.

I realise this years entitlement will be on a pro-rata basis but I have no idea how much to expect, how long it might take to assess etc. my main concern is if we will be able to afford to even send our son to nursery with the funding awarded. We can't apply for any discretionary help from the Uni directly until October.

Is there any way of getting a rough idea of how much we might be able to get from Student Finance?
Do you get anything from SFE for part-time study?

Presumably your husband can look for some part-time work alongside his studies. And would you be able to increase your hours?
Signature removed for peace of mind

I think for that you'll need to speak to your university. Sounds as if they may think that, so speak with them to find what is required.

The maintenance loan is paid in 3 installments. First is September/October, 2nd is in the new year, and 3rd is around Easter.

Just tagging so I don't forget. I'll check some bits out on this tomorrow, as something nagging me about CCG for two students. 1am is not the time to be scanning things though!
