Hi Taiko
My ongoing issue still isnt resolved, the lastest update is that my application has been blocked, i sent in doctors letters and evidence from the uni to show i didnt complete a year in 2006/2007, last year this was all agreed and accepted and i recieved help with my tuition fees, but now apparently i wont get those this year as they dont have a withdrawl email from 2006/2007 (but they must have had it last year?) - i dont really understand whats going on or what i need to do, is this something you can help me with?0 -
I probably can. Right now, I can only really get on here of a lunch break though.
There's a bit in the regulations (think it's Paragraph 21, should be around there anyway), that states entitlement to fees is only there if you were in attendance that year. You weren't, so it should really be a straightforward reassessment based on the evidence you sent in.
Might be worth trying to get your university to call. They have a direct line through to SFE, or should have.0 -
Thank you, I did attend 2006/2007 but left near the end of the year for medical reasons, so they uni did get paid the fees etc
I have rang the uni but it was a fd through a college and each person is getting someone else to callback, there does not seem to be a person to deal with the fd from 5 years ago to find out when i left and why
I just dont understand why i got fees last year but not this year?

Glad I quoted that post now, as I had a feeling you'd delete yours.
Whilst the rules are to be nice, it's also appreciated on MSE not to lie. You had the means, motive, and opportunity to commit the fraud, got found out, and now have to deal with the consequences.
I think you need a solicitor.0 -
I do not appear to have asked you for further information, as by your own statements it was a closed case. SFE will not reinstate if support has been terminated due to fraud. It's not a decision they rush into, or do in error. To the best of my knowledge, they even have a team of people employed purely to detect and take action for this.
Even looking back in this thread, you'll note that I will not hesitate to criticise SFE when they are wrong. In this case, and again this is based on your own words, you knowingly claimed more than you were entitled to. That, by definition, is fraud.
If you're offended, and believe I have defamed your character, I'm sure MSE would, on receipt of solicitors papers/court documents, have no problem in disclosing my identity. You'd probably be looking to obtain an NPO for that. Should you wish to go further, given your own quoted statements you're liable to be met with a reply along the lines of Arkell vs Pressdram.
Edit: Seems the quoted post how now been deleted as well. Good job a screenshot was taken!0 -
Taiko your attempts to build some ridiculous bank of evidence is pointless. Whatever screenshots you wish to take go ahead. Clearly MSE has agreed you were out of line HENCE your post was deleted. Whatever you are highlighting is NOT THE ISSUE RAISED. For someone who clearly thinks in black and white understanding it is obviously very difficult. I was querying what repayment methods were possible THAT WAS THE QUERY! You are harping on fraud fraud fraud like a demented robot. The quote you quoted now deleted WAS IRRELEVANT and took place WAY before SFE was even a factor and handled with MY OWN MONEY! Think about it - it was a PAYDAY LOAN!??? What does this imply?? I was WORKING and certainly not on the course of study in this instance! That matter has nothing to do with this and that is where you are clearly out of order. You are a cyber bully and your posting history clearly shows it. You have insulted students persistently while claiming to give advice. If you are an employee of SFE and carrying on in this manner then you give poor representation to their practice as even them have not shown the nasty side you have here fully knowing ALL the details of my case. And as for your Arkell v. Pressdam reference - kindly returned to sender! You have been happily added to my ignore list. Take this where you wish. It is full time somebody tells you of your arrogant treatment of board members. You unlike others you have told this are not worth my time.0
-
You really should get a grip and stop attacking Taiko who is an expert in this area and gives a lot of his own time helping students - far more than is obvious on this board.
Although you deleted your earlier post, you very clearly stated that you had claimed monies to which you were not entitled so, by your own admission, you have committed fraud.0 -
My only laugh is that you stated in your OP that they terminated support for all years, and not just the 11/12 academic year we're in right now. The post about applying for a payday loan was made May 2011. Simple logic there just indicated it was an application whilst studying.
Evidently, you won't see this post, so it won't matter a great deal. But if you're going to try and provoke me, at least stick to one story.
*depressed* can you PM me with your study dates again? Break it down by academic year, and whether or not you attended please e.g. 2006/2007 - Year 1 Passed 07/08 - Year 2 - Suspended etc.0 -
Hello,
I have spent a good few hours reading through this thread and I haven't found an exact answer for my question so I hope no one minds me adding another question to this thread!
I am a BFPO resident and after speaking with the OU and SFE, I have been told I am fully eligible for help as if I was living within the UK. That our BFPO status means I am treated as in the UK. I was told by the specific bfpo OU helpline that I was to fill out the finance application form as if I was in the UK.
The problem I have is one of the questions is:
In the three years prior to the start of the first academic year of your course, did you live outside the UK and Islands at any time?
Technically my answer is yes. Should I tick yes then write an explanation in notes, or do I tick No given what the helplines have said about treating the forms as if I was in the UK.
Also this question:
At any time since 1 September 2009
has:
• your husband, wife, civil partner
lived or worked outside the UK and
Islands or, in the case of an EU,
EEA or Swiss national, outside the
EEA or Switzerland?
Again, my true answer would be Yes, but again I am confused as I was told to treat the forms as a UK resident given our bfpo status.
Sorry for sounding so stupid! (maybe doing a degree is a bad idea for me) I would appreciate any help from anyone who knows about applying as a bfpo resident.
Thank you for reading.Save 8k in 2013: Member #100

Include the overseas addresses with BFPO addresses. The assessor will pick this up and award you your full entitlement.0
