Include the overseas addresses with BFPO addresses. The assessor will pick this up and award you your full entitlement.
Thank you so much for answering. I was really uncomfortable with the thought of 'lying' by ticking the box that does not reflect where I really am! So by putting in my bfpo address with the relevant (true) box ticked should cover it?
Thanks again, after reading this thread through today I can see how busy you are!Save 8k in 2013: Member #100

Hi,
Thinking of a part time student loan to fund an Open University course. Having just taken a look at the form I wondered if you could clarify whether it is compulsory to complete section 5.2 where you are asked to name 2 contact points at different addresses? If I don't complete this section will my tuition loan be turned down?
I am not comfortable about including my family on the application (I am 32 yrs old and my finances are completely separate to my family and don't see why they need to be involved as a UK taxpayer I am easily contactable!).
Also would I need to tell my employer I am applying for student loan?
Thanks

As far as I know, the regulations changed a few years back so that two contacts did not have to be provided, although the forms indicated otherwise. It was a case of all or nothing on that page.
Where you are applying for the OU though, I assume you are completing their applications forms, so things may be slightly different.0 -
Of course, it doesn't have to be family you name at that point, does it? (Long time since I've seen the forms!) AFAIK, the purpose is to ensure that they don't lose touch with you if you move house and don't leave a forwarding address, NOT acting as guarantors.Signature removed for peace of mind0

Can anyone tell me if the nhs bursary of £1000 non means tested applies to students from n ireland studying in n ireland. My son has an offer for a course which qualifies for fees paid through the nhs bursay sheme. Our income sets him just above the limit for means tested. From what i can see students in england, scotland and wales get1000 non means tested but its not clear if this applies to ni students. We didnt realise he would get a reduced rate loan for living exp and are kind of panicking now as we will just about manage to pay his rent for halls as its 1200 quarterly. Any advice would be appreciated, results are out on thurs and nerves are hitting, the worry about finances is all we need!
Thanks!Mary B0 -
Hi, I wonder if anybody can help... I am starting a foundation course at Bournemouth and have been in contact with the University and Directgov who both confirm I am not entitled to any loans. I am 21 moving away from home and my parental income is over 60k. If the government can't help me financially are there any banks or other ways I can seek financial support.
Thanks.0 -
Any idea how long a 'Change of Circumstance' takes to process? I changed my course provider 3 weeks ago, but everything else is the same.
The Customer Service man said the award should not change but I need the paperwork to take to Induction with me at the end of August."On behalf of teachers, I'd like to dedicate this award to Michael Gove and I mean dedicate in the Anglo Saxon sense which means insert roughly into the anus of." My hero, Mr Steer.0 -

Can you give some details of the course you want to do as there may well be alternatives.0 -
Hi all,
After much consideration and discussion with Tutors my Husband has decided to retake a 30 credit module from Year One of his course. This will be a few hours a day over two days for 30 weeks (including revsion weeks, exams etc), starting in September.
Our household consists of me (working part-time) and our two children, one of which is at Nursery.
Last year we recieved the usual childcare grant, adult dependant grant, Parents learning allowance etc.
I realise this years entitlement will be on a pro-rata basis but I have no idea how much to expect, how long it might take to assess etc. my main concern is if we will be able to afford to even send our son to nursery with the funding awarded. We can't apply for any discretionary help from the Uni directly until October.
Is there any way of getting a rough idea of how much we might be able to get from Student Finance?
Many thanks in advance!0
