Ohh PCOS is nasty, i have endometriosis so i'm only too familiar with the paramedics being called during TOTM! Poor us. :(

Still, nice to hear you're coming along leaps and bounds. Don't u just love those little changes? Today i looked in the mirror and did a double take as my face is changing. Someone at work said to me that my eyes were getting bigger, think he meant my face was getting thinner. Hehe. We'll get there PAP!
    Still to go: 24lbs

  • Ah bounce its a pain, but as long as we dont let it get us down its not that bad... But I just googled endometriosis and it looks way worse than pcos. However I am just about to start the second totm since being on CD... seems CD wants them regular :rotfl:

We will get there absoulty... may be slowly but we will get there together :j

    Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if it would be ok for me to join in this thread? I did Cambridge last year and lost nearly 4 stone, but sort of lost my way and tried other things and have put on 2.5 stone. Started back on Monday on SS, but am finding it quite hard. I need to lose 3 stone to get to target so its going to take a while and we're going on holiday in August so I want to lose as much as I can before then so any support would be gratefully recieved.

Also can anyone tell me why its a good idea to drink more than 2 litres of water a day on Cambridge?

hello maria! welcome to the thread... well done on your loss, you know it can be done, and you've come to the right place for support and laughs and general vent-i-ness.....

I'm glorying on girls but i must admit am finding it tough....

wierdly enough i can resist the big temptations, like the chip shop the other day... it's the sitting at home and thinking hmmmmmn i think i'd like a biscuit with that cup of tea. These little temptations are the things i struggle with.....

was at MIL's today, and i was able to have a coffee and a mineral water while her and Erin ate their lunches, and then later on i had another mineral water while they had tea and cakes.......

gimme the happy clappies for today as well Sue, when you get back....!

Scales at leisure centre are still showing no loss and that's been almost a full week since last weigh in..... albeit i won't see new CDC til thursday.

    pants that's what it is!!
I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....

Thanks Maz, I've got my first weigh in tomorrow night so am hoping for a good loss as i know that that will give me the motivation to go on for the next week, I can only think a week at a time I think otherwise it just seems so massive a challenge!

I have read through most of this thread and have to say you've all been really inspirational - I love your photos Maz and the idea of having a figure like yours after short time seems like a far off dream to me at the moment. I don't know if that helps at all, but as you got so far and all the temptations you must have resisted I'm sure that you'll be able to fight off the biscuit cravings you've already shown you have amazing willpower to lose so much weight.

Anyone got any ideas on why its good to drink more than 2 litres a day?
  • Hi Maria, and welcome to the mad house. Weigh in one is fab but I find I am more motivated after every weigh in for some reason. I flag mid week but these guys help a lot :j

Regards to the water its mainly a 'normal' thing but most adults dont drink the recomended amount on a regular diet. There is more info on this bbc website, and it states a healthy adults need 1.5 litres to 3 litres a day. So I guess CD just took the middle point but if you feel you need more then drink more... just not in one go. There is some negative affects from water although if you drink it slowly through the day and not huge amounts in one sitting you should be fine. Also water is used to flush out your system and when on CD you go into ketosis and ketones are released into your urine, I am unsure if this has any negative effects if you hold onto your urine but maybe all the water helps flush us out too :)

Thanks Pap, that really helps. I haven't had a problem yet with the water, as I'm drinking everytime I feel like eating which is often!, but its helpful to know why it's important for weight loss.

With regard to ketosis, in the morning I have a purple stick but if I test during the day I'm only just seeing any change in colour. Does anyone know why that is? am I out of ketosis or diluting with all the water I'm drinking during the day?

Water isnt the miricale in this diet, if you were to go on any diet and up your water intake your first week will see a huge loss. Its just your body is getting used to being 'fed' water and therefore doesnt hang onto every drop :T

Thats just the water diluting all the ketones. You are still in ketosis its just your body has built them up over the night hence the high reading. They say if you have a really purple result you are dehydrated... however no matter how much I drink mine are always very pink/purple.

So I am back and in two weeks I have lost 8lb :j So 4lb a week ~ fantastic. I have also lost 4" from my wasit, 2" form my hips and 3" from my bust (although this one isnt acurate because I wore a tight fitting bra today and not my usuall padded 'to big' bra so I may in effect have only lost an inch or so :D) So yeah really good result seeing as I have fell off the wagon this past week.

Oh and only .97 till my first bmi goal from my CDC and only 5lb till my go till my first momiji doll :j
