Cambridge Diet part II

Hi, please could I pick your brains for a moment? I would like to lose 1 stone in time for my wedding on 20th March (about 4 weeks, arrgh). I'm 5' 2" and 11st if that makes any difference, lol. A lady in the gym today suggested CD as a good diet for a quick loss. Is this achieveable do you think? What is the diet, are there weekly WI's like WW, can I just buy the shakes on Ebay, anything else I should know?
I've had a look at the CD website but it seems so complex so any help is appreciated :j
Thanks.Cos I don't shine if you don't shine.0 -
Well done br33ni, be strong
Another day done and dusted, my knee is now hurting, probably in response to the back being sore, so nearly caved in even though I wasn't remotely hungry - think I'm just looking for an excuse to fail sometimes.....naughty me. Anyway, I've got through the day without lapsing and have been really thirsty today, have had at least 6 litres of water throughout the day!
Here's hoping for another pound off in the morning...
Hi mollymunchkin - I'm a LLer so don't know the ins and outs of CD, so will defer to the other girls to comment, but welcome! CD and LL are quick diets, and I'm sure you can't buy the packs on eb*y as it wouldn't be healthy.0 -
Hey Mollymunchkin,
Well CD is quick for loosing weight although you can only go onto the soul source program if you have a stone to loose that would leave you in a healthy BMI (i believe) the soul source is a meal of 3 soups, shakes or porridge (4 if over 5'8" or male) a day. Initially you will see amaizing results and quick loss although quicker if you have more to loose.
I have just completed my fourth week today and am nearly up to a two stone loss, although I have a lot to loose compared to a stone. You need to call to find a counceller in your area and you have councilling and weekly weigh in's, but solely on your own instead of group sessions in WW. the diet roughly costs from £35 to £45 a week depending on packets and CDC charges. Although this a huge saving on rubish you would generally buy as long as not having to still purchase food for the familly. Since being on the diet the first week is the worse, where you may suffer head aches and stomach problems whilst detoxing. After the first week my energy levels are through the roof, my skin is so clear and radient from all the nutrients in the diet, A huge weight reduction and once entered ketosis after 3 day's (so long as you dont cheat), you will no longer feel hungry (well I dont). You must drink at least 2.5 liters of water a day in Ketosis and you cannot drink alcohol. I would suggest eating normal food prior to your wedding as I am sure you would want to drink! Well I hope this helps and if I have anything incorrect I am sure everyone else may have gaps or corrections they will suggest.
As you have such a small amount to loose you may be requested to start one of the other stages of the diet. I am unsure of these steps but are for maintenance and additional loss. I am only on the sole source so can not tell you the benefits of these as yet.
The best thing you could do is make an appointment with a counceller that you can find on the site and have a chat about what will be best for you. My CDC is really friendly and phoned me every other day when I first started. You have so much support and everyone on this page is so friendly and helpfull.
I hope this helps.0 -

Week 1 = 10 3/4 lb
Week 2 = 7 lb
Week 3 = 4 lb
Week 4 = 5 lb
Total loss = 1 stone 12 3/4 ponds :j onlt 1 and 1/4 lb's to make 2 stones wooohooo!
I went to see the doctor today and picked up antibiotis and steroids for my chest but my CDC says I can still stay on the diet with them yay.:D
The doctor is being very odd about signing the form as they dont agree with the low callory diet and feel that Cambridge is trying to pass the blame on to them if anything were to go wrong. They feeel there are much better ways of loosing weight. ( I have tried every way they have suggested already, all the tablets and nothing happend) Sooooo apparently I have to have a million blood tests and be monitored before they will consider signing the form. Unfortunatly they cant fit me in for this for a couple of weeks! and always have to wait a week at a time to get an appointment so looking at even another month befor the form will be signed!!!! grrrr the annoying part is it has my measurements on the form they have so I cant find out my inch loss untill I get it back!:(
My CDC is going to call cambridge to see what they suggest....so fingers crossed!
Well as for the cold.... I feel soooo ill today! coughing and spluttering all the way but in high spirits cause the loss is brilliant!!! will soon be reaching my first goal for myself so going to keep up the good work!!!
Piratess, I understand where you are coming from on double ups. I used to be a care assistant for 5 years and I was always on double ups as I was thought to be one of the strongest women, plus there was no men in our company. Be very carefull and speak up for yourself as I injured my back really bad and cannot work in the industry anymore! I have to be sooo careful not to injure my back anymore. Unfortunatly my back never went during manual handleing people it was always somthing stupid like picking a tissue up off the floor. The work is soo damaging no matter how much equiptment they supply there is always effort and strain on your body in that line of work. hope today goes well for you. :A
Hope everyone else is doing well, keep up the good work everyone! :A0 -

Hollypolly,
Welcome to the site. I found my first week difficult due to the headaches and detoxing process at first plus the hunger. What will help this at first is limiting your carbohydrates down now prior to starting the diet so it wont be so bad, although everyone is different. After the first week I felt sooo healthy on the diet and no longer hungry! Drink plenty of water and get early nights or some suggest lots of baths to take you away from temptation.
The diet costs me roughly £35 to £40 a week depending on what I choose that week. When I would normaly spend about £70 on shopping a week and not including the £20 on vending machines at college and £20 a week on take outs and other junk I may have bought so I am saving alot of money on the diet.
I am a stuborn person and has helped in making me stick with the diet. Also what helped me is reading everyone's support and comments on here and the loss people have on the minimims site. Also a great advantage was Duncan sending me a weight tracker on Excel ( I can forward a copy to you if you pm me your email) She has added a section on the side where you can write in whether you had a 100% day or a blip. Seeing all those 100% I refuse to put a blip on it and as the loss builds up it really gives you a sence of acheivement!!!
I hope this helps and I am sure everyone else will have other ideas for you!
Good luck0 -
I have fail at so many diets I am going into starting CD as if this is going to fail too. I have spent all afternoon being very negative about it all finding any excuse and not focusing on the really reason I want to do this. So I am going to give myself a kick.
Total agree with br33ni about the cost, I spent over £5.00 on lunch today when there was food in the cupboard:eek:. I just need to sort my husband out for the week. I go on Monday so will let you know how it goes.
Thanks for the post br33ni I have pm'd you my address.

Evenin' all! I wore THE DRESS to work today and a few people commented on how nice it was - I know, I LOVE it!
Have had 4l water and am a bit thirsty but am not going to drink any more as I'm off a bit later for the weekend and pick up my DD, and it's a long drive, especially as no matter what time I leave, I'm bound to get stuck in traffic on the M25!
I'm a bit stressed through, you know how I weigh myself every day? Well....should I take my scales with me or is that just schtoopid? Will I be more excited to come back SUnday afternoon and do a vague weigh-in, or will I "need" to carry on with the morning clocking in??! Answers on a postcard please! (My parents don't have scales)0 -
Dont weigh I say. I am addicted to weighing myself but havnt done so since started on Monday so hopefully I get a lovely surprise this Monday. Day 3 and feeling okayish. Made a vat of chilli , spag bol , stew and chicken curry to portion up and freeze for DH so was a bit ratty but he told me to book a weekend away to cheer myself up. So just booked London for end May so something to look forward to.Yearly Grocery Budget - £100.77/ £3500. January Treats Budget - £11.80 / £100.0
