  • Hi Piratess, :j to go geeting a date. Monday isnt fair either. You will do fab I know you will! Keep posting on here, I will gladly read your 'babble' :rotfl: I understand all your feelings, I was the same too but just take one day/one hour/one minute at a time and all will be fine :D

I started with a mini smoothie machine for the powdered shakes. However I quickly moved onto a huge blender and its much better. If you start having lumpy shakes I would invest in a better blender. The Sf shaker is prob the same as the cambridge one, but be aware if you shake as hard as I do the liquid will turn 'warm'

Nothing else needed. However let me know if your CDC doesnt give you some pee stick to test if you are in the pink/ketosis. I have loads here so I can send you some  We do have a mag, its tri monthly I think. Costs £2.50 as its just had a revamp (it used to be £1) its good and has lots of success stories/inspiration so worth a read if you can spare the £2.50 :D Your CDC may have the last one avalible if you want to buy one straight away. Be aware though my first CDC didnt have them so you may have to ask them to be ordered or again I could get them to you :D

Good Luck and let us know how it goes... Oh and I am guessing OH was fine with you doing it then?

    Hi all

Well I posted on here a few months ago saying I was going to start Cambridge in the New Year and true to word my first meeting with counsellor is Tuesday 6pm - I'm very excited / nervous, what should I expect will they weight and measure me or just weigh me??

I've seen on here that you've all bought blenders, do I need to get one too?? Is there anything else I should get?

Sorry for all the questions just so excited!!!!

Piratess ~ Ahhh thats a secret is it. Well as long as its not costing him he need not worry :D Ha its interesting isnt it our habits, although I must say it doenst take long to break them. Mine was first thing in the morning I would have a glass of milk. I have for years then milk on my cereals. I did miss it but soon subsituted it for a pint of water :rotfl:

Stokegal ~ Welcome back, I knew you said you were joining in the new year :T Good luck with your first appointment, the first one takes the longest but its truely the best. On your first meeting you will be weighed, measured (however what is/isnt measuered is up to you, the card has hips, waist, bust, arms and thighs) and your pic taken. This picture is for you to keep track of yourself and isnt used by your CDC. I was scared of this but now I am so glad as its fab to look back on. I cant even reconise myself now :rotfl: The thing I would say though is to get them regually emailed to you or take your own :D

There are two ways to mix your packet shakes... Blender or hand shaker. The hand shakers you can buy form you CDC for about £6 they look like these, but have cambridge all across them. They are fine as a last resort or while you are out and you have no tetras (pre-mades) but I dont like them. Just because to get the lumps out you have to shake really hard and the shake goes warm. No matter how many ice cubes I add they are still warm :o The blender I started with was this one, although it did the job I didnt know how it made the shakes taste. Once it went faulty (after making slushies with the shakes) I brought this one and the shakes are devine, they taste light and fluffy. However I know some have made the shakes using the cheap stick blenders so thats a way to go :D

Its personal preferance though, the same as the amount of water you use to make the shakes. I use far more than it states on the packets because I dont like mine thick. It will take a few weeks to get settled in. The only other I would say is try every flavour etc etc. Then you can pick the ones you really like for the remainder of the diet :T

I hope that essay helps both of you :o Good luck with your meetings I will be thinking of you :D

    Thanks Pap

I already have a stick blender but will take your advice and get the blender - I have a £5 Argos gift voucher burning a hole in my pocket (I also work for them too... so thank you staff discount ;))

I go on holiday in 15 weeks and am determined to enjoy this one unlike last years and worry about my weight, I have a lot of weight to lose and would be elated if I could lose 3 stone between now and then, I'd be more than happy with 2 stone. We've been eating all the nice things in the house over the christmas period so they'll be no temptation :p
  • Hi thinking about doing the CD as I have tried and failed everything else possible. I have tried to find the costs etc can someone point me in the right direction please?

Hi Jayne, it depends on your height and plan. But if you are under 5ft 8in and are on sole source (ss) the lowest plan then its around £35 - £40 per week. Thats for basic food if you want fibre suplements or all pre-made food it will be more expensive. Weigh-in is generally free but I know some may charge if you dont buy anything that week :D

  • Piratess, I can only drink my shakes though straws. Otherwise they make me feel sick. I think its the whole 'gush' of liquid to my mouth. Strange I know  I buy them in huge 1000's from work so they last me a fair while :D

Good luck I will be online tomorrow awaiting your update :)

Hello all, can I join you.

I am a CDC but I have quite a bit to lose after having a baby (who is now almost 3) & having had some issues after which meant taking tablets which meant weight went on rather than off after I had her. All sorted now so able to get back on it.

I am planning on doing SS at least until I go on holiday in April.

Before becoming a CDC I started on CD weighing 17st 2 & went down to 11st 7. I think (have not weighed over Xmas) I am about 16st 8 at the moment & want to get down to 11st.

I think telling all on here & getting all your support (as well as being ale to help you all) will keep me focused.
