Helloooooo:j been having pc probs (I am DEF not techie minded!) Have been able to read but not access to either thank or write:mad:.......I have been shouting saying I'm here but the computer couldn't here me!!!!
Anyway, WELL DONE to everyone, the fact that we are still around means that we are all supporting each other. I am still doing the CD shuffle, unlike Pap I have to have food, so am doing a slow but steady route, that suits me fine though. I am still 'on the wagon', by allowing food into my plan it means that I haven't gone off it so I am not messing with my head:rotfl:, although it does mean that the decisions are more difficult! But I still haven't told anyone, people just think I am being 'good' and 'careful'.....funny though, I have started to get the 'you're losing too much weight' comments!!! And I still have 2-3 stones to go!!
I have moved my goal posts. I now think that there is a possibility that I could be slim (wow, that is the first time I have seen that written down) - It was too scary when I first started to look at losing 5 - 6 stone, and therefore just looked at little targets. I can now look at the bigger picture and its with help from this site (esp, Pap).
I have lost 2 stone in 2.5 months and I am chuffed - so keep going guys.
Yes it is hard, but no harder than any other diet (I think). However your head needs to be in the right place, don't beat yourself up if right now is just not the right time for YOU.
BTW Pap, absolutely FANTASTIC - 5 stone barrier broken YEEEEEEEES:T:T:T:T
Sorry for the long woffle, just glad to be able to be back on here:p0 -
Hi. Hope someone can help. I've been searching the net (including the official CD site!), but cannot find the current cost of the diet.
I've found a few blogs which say is was around £35/week but that was 2 years ago. Apologies if it's been covered in this thread, but I haven't time to read every page (although I have looked at quite a few) and cannot find a way to search this thread only.
Thanks in advance.0 -
Beanie ~ Thanks
Hunbun ~ Its so nice to see you are still on the CD wagon. You are doing so well! I too am having people say i am losing too much weight, yet they dont see the scales  Just keep going untill you want to stop or you are at healthy bmi. As long as you arnt ill then its fine
nufc1961 ~ The cost depends on many factors... Including the CDC you see (CD HQ set the base price) they put 'commision' on top and your height. if you are above 5ft 8in and/or male you have 4 packs, anything below its three packs. Mine charge £1.70 per shake powder, £1.70 per porridge, £1.70 per soup, £1.95 per premade shake & £1.95 per bar. Just my base 21 is £37.20 per week depending on how many pre made ones I buy. If I then have fibre89 on top (a supplement to help your bowels) its another £6...
Hope that helps0 -

Thank you everyone for all your kind words, having people here who understand the diet etc. is such a great help.
The first week of the diet I found quite easy, no side effects before ketosis kicked in, and managed drinking the water quite easy. Although I can only seem to manage the minimum, and was the same previously when I did CD. If anyone can offer any advice how I can drink more then please let me know as I know this can make such a difference.
This second week has been more difficult, there have been so many tempations in the house this week, with my DH and my 3 year old having their treats still. I managed (just!) from me having a wee treat aswell.
Yesterday (saturday) i was soooo hungry. I went shopping and really felt like I was going to faint. So decided to have a grilled chicken salad - (only ate the lettuce and chicken) and felt so much better. I am doing SS+ though, so used this as being my 200kcal meal for the day.
Piratess - I have just had my 34th birthday 2 weeks ago -- and I am determined that my next one will be a slim one!! Looking forward to having you onboard at the start of the year (which isnt too long away now!).
:jGOOD NEWS :j- Jeans that I could not get buttoned 2 weeks ago, now fit comfortably, that just has to be the best feeling!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!0 -
The Cambridge diet was the worst diet move i ever made. You are effectively starving yourself and if you ever want to start eating a normal diet again your weight piles on as your body (having been in starvation mode) realises it must now store your calories as they've been in such short supply . I am now 2 st heavier than i was when i initially started CD. My friend also has been the heaviest ever. Don't mess up your body's metabolic rate . just eat healthily amd exercise . I can honestly say CD had ruined my body. You are not designed to live on milkshakes be kind to yourselves. Eat Healthy ! oh and you have the most awful breath doing CD !0

If you read back what you've written Gstir it's the kind of stuff you find on proanorexia sites. Please learn from my mistakes..by starving your body you will totally mess up your metabolic rate. Just lose weight the healthy way. Eating small meals throughout the day will speed up your metabolic rate. Exercise. It's scary people feel like they are going to faint and it's self inflicted. What message does this send to children who's mummy feels bad for eating lettuce and chicken? I'm worried for you . I hope you take on board what I'm saying.been there done that and paid the price .0

Morning Gstir :hello:
Well done you for getting into those jeans !! ... bet your feeling quite pleased with yourself right now!
Ooo youve got a birthday goal to ! what month is yours? Mines in May .. so im kinda hoping to be done dusted and maintaining through WW if i need to....
What day do you weigh in ? ....
Hostie... Sorry i cant really comment on your post as i dont As Yet know enough about the whole procsess only that its an health approved diet which provids all vitamins and nutrients needed to stay healthy whilst following the plan ...
I think well in my opinion the good outways the bad, As long as you stay with your CDC and follow your maintinance plan then i cannot see how you would regain weight .. maybe like any diet you will wobble weight wise until you find your own personal balance but otherwise i cannot see how you would regain all of the weight you once lost, Unless you go back to your old eating habits?
I could however been completly wrong, like i say im not informed enough at present, I dont start until Jan ...
Would love to hear others opinions on this thoughHoping to be a thinner me in 2010!0 -
Hmmmmmmm, there are always going to be 2 sides to an argument - without there would be no disagreement! However I have to say that I looked into BOTH sides in great depth before deciding to embark on this programme. Note, I do NOT call it a diet, it is a way of eating that has a medically proven basis to it. Yes, there are those, both medically trained and not, who disagree with the regime of VLCD, however if the answer to obesity (and I am not talking about those who would like to lose a stone to fit into size 12) were set in stone and easy to accomplish, then very few people would have a weight problem. It is VITAL to see a counsellor or a health professional on a regular basis and to follow the plan as laid out. There will be those for whom CD is definately not right, and those for whom it is, we are all different.
I would just ask that if people do want to post non-supportive / anti CD comments on this thread then perhaps they would think of the impact they could have on somebody who is actually coming on here for support.
Solid and substantiated evidence is one thing, but personal opinions that run into commenting on the hypothetical psychological impact on somebody elses children is, in my opinion, out of order.
I don't want to rant, I just feel very strongly about how important support is. I'm going to go and have my lunch, soup, salad, chicken and a cup of tea - fairly healthy and appropriate I think..........0
