  • Hello all. This is the first time that I've posted on this thread. I restarted CD yesterday for the *umpteenth* time :rotfl:. I can stick at it for a few months, then loose the plot, fall off the wagon, put on some weight, then REALISE I must restart!! Anyway not been too bad, especially as I've not been working today. Just will be glad when I get into ketosis.

Snowedunderitall - I'm glad that my DH is the 'human dustbin' in this house :T - it makes life much easier!!

    Hi everyone,
Can i come and join you all please? My name is Gillian.
My story is that I did CD at the end of 2008 and beginning of 2009. Then we had a very sudden death in the family and I just lost the plot with the diet. I had lost approx. 2.5 stones.
Given the fact that I;ve spent so many nights comfort eating, trying to convince myself that its a treat and its making me feel better!!! I've managed to put the 2.5 stones back on, and another 13lbs over and above.
However, I've taken the plunge and I;ve been back to see my CDC tonight, explained whats happened and I've got my soups/shakes etc. ready to get back on the CD wagon tomorrow morning.
This week IS going to be difficult, but I'm determined to get thru it.
So you might be hearing alot from me in the near future, at least if I'm typing on here, then my hands arent in the biscuit jar.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you feel like typing any success stories etc... then please do so, it will keep me motivated.

    Thanks folks!!!

How's everybody else getting along? Maz? Pap? x x

Hey hey hey!! bounce-ee baby! how are you!!?
I am still here, still plodding :j Had a week off while on holiday but back too it now. First big slip of the wagon but then I knew I would do it when i signed up :rotfl: Last 3ish stone to go now... Home straight :j

Maz was maintaining really well. However she wants cosmetic surgery which her doctor wants her to lose the final stone for so I think she will be back on CD for a month :D Dont know if she is popping in here though...

Good luck with your journey, keep us updatetd

Pap - you are doing so well.... i'm dead proud of you!! and you're doing a brill job on keeping the thread ticking over!!

I just popped in to say hello really... i am on day 2... need a couple of weeks @ 100% to give myself a boost.

could do with shifting a stone reallly to get me below the 11's and safely into the sub 27 bmi which the plastic surgeon needs... pah!

100% yesterday and feeling okay. Peestick was purple this morning, so that was quick!
I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....

Hi...I am a newbie to this too.

I did SS CD in Jan 08, but only lasted ten days. Put it back on. Have lost about a stone by myself, currently 12.5 want to be between 10.7 - 11 I am 5 4" but I don't want to lose all my curves if you know what I mean!!

Anyway just recently I have been thinking alot about why I overeat etc. I am totally fed up with obsessing over food, and I found some left over shakes in the cupboard. I have got quite a few left, but I think I would like to have a soup at lunch at work rather than a shake. That way I have enough to last me 9 days. Have e mailed a local counsellor so will see what they say.

Don't really want to part with £38 a week tbh, but then I might be done in a few weeks. i am worried I will put it back on again though. And i am NOT looking forward to cramp waking me in the middle of the night. I am getting married next year too, I can't be walking down the aisle like some snow covered mountain.......
I have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off :o

:hello:Hey Ive just finished reading this thread from start to finish, and wanted to say what a bunch of complete lovelyness you all are :grouphug:
I think your wonderful, so supportive and understanding to!

Im 32 I weigh 14.10lbs im 5f3 and im a size 18, Ive been thinking about joining CD for a couple of weeks now, Im a yo-yo dieter ive tried WW and SW each with limited succsess lost 2 stone ish each time only to regain that and more !
So im now looking at this, Im an emotional eater, i also eat when im bored, and i also use food as a reward (childhood thing) ... So just hope this will give me what i need in structure and no choice lol ...

anyway im just a bit worried i wont like any of it?. The only milkshake i like are McD ones lol .. although i do like soup and porridge,
Ive made an appointment to go have a chat with a CDC on friday at 4pm to go through everything and then i can decide when to start ..

Im kinda thinking maybe i should start at the begining of Jan ... due to there only being 4 ish weeks left till xmas and money being really tight due to this fact ..

How do those of you with small kids and thin hubbys who can eat anything they like cope ???

Lovely to meet you all :) xx
Hoping to be a thinner me in 2010!

sorry this is a bit late, however, had my first weigh-in on Monday night and lost...... 10lbs. so pleased!!!!!. I had a sneaky look this morning on my own scales and it looks like I'm 2lb down again. yippeeee.
Thats what you call quick weight loss! I am hoping that by Xmas it will be a noticeable weight loss!

Piratess - how did you get on today with your CD appt? have you made any decision whether to give it a go? It isnt an easy diet, but when you can lose 10lb in a week, it gives you the inspiration to keep going.

Has everyone else deserted ship, or is it just coming too close to the festive season to think about diet??!?!?

Morning gstir :) WOW :T:j flipping well done !! amazing weight loss! ...

I hope they havnt all deserted ship, as i love reading this thread! ..
My appointment went very well, she talked about all the different plans told me how much she lost we covered cost etc and why i want to lose weight and did i have a goal in mind.
Well i do .. i would love to be 4 stone lighter by my birthday in May! ... she told me that was SO doable as long as u follow it and drink drink drink! (water that is)
So after a chat about when i should start we decided Jan would prob be best due to the money factor and that im cooking this yr for 11 (never done it before)

gstir how did you find your 1st week? how did you cope with the tough days? and how are you finding it now?

    xx
So ill be a hanger oner till Jan if thats ok ??? :o
Hoping to be a thinner me in 2010!
  • Hi all, Wow I haven't been on this thread for over a month. So sorry for leaving you with no word, I have had a few 'down' weeks and alas the diet and offering suppot hasn't been in me. I have however just broke the 5 stone lost barrier and I am still plodding on. I hope everyone, new and old, are doing well

snowedunderitall ~ I do hope your 'first' meeting went well. I must say that eating the kids leftovers is something one up and down the country. We are told from an early age to be less wastefull and think about money that eating leftovers is commonplace. However may of these calories arent counted and alas in a day the average parent can geat a good few more hunded calories than they thought the had. Keep going with CD...

stokegal ~ Its lovely to see your Oh supporting you with your decision to lose the weight. I agree with you to start after christmas because its the holiday season after all. The only thing I would advise is to get an appointment booked asap. Sadly in the new year everyone trys to lose weight nad slots can fill quickly. I dont wnat you to have to go out of your area to find a CDC.

kitty_cat ~ Good luck with the restart. I have only had one on the lifetime of this diet however I remember how hard it was. I retarted once and I said I would never do it again. Now I seem to test for ketosis every other day. It helps me concertrate but alas its rather expensive for thw pee sticks

gstir ~ Welcome to the Cd thread, its lovely to see new faces especially those who have gone through the diet before. Well done on your first set of losses, I am so sorry you lost a family member though *hugs*. Huge prasies for you nipping the weight gain in the bud and getting back onto the diet... I do agree distraction is the key for me too, especially at night  Well done on your first weigh in, 10lbs is fab. Just have to keep it up now :D

Maz ~ Umm yeah feel off the wagon regarding keeping the thead going but I am back now. I hope you are doing well on your last stretch of CD :T

Taadaa ~ Welcome to the thread :j

piratess ~ Welcome to the CD thread... CD will certainly give you no other option but to have the shakes. I find it so simple and so much easier than any calorie counting. Regarding the 'food' you will find some you hate but generally there is so much you are certain to find something you like. The shakes sadly are nothing like McD's, if you use the min water they are quite thick but not the same. You can however make them nearly the same using crushed ice :j The soup and porridge isnt the same as normal stuff though. Think of cup of soup watered down and lumpy porridge, however some love them, I just stick to shakes :rotfl:

Glad you spoke to a CDC and agreed Jan is a good time to start. I must admit if I was in your position I too would wait. You could if you are 100% do the 4 stone in around 4 months so you could be looking very swish for your birthday :T The first week (hope you dont mind me posting) will be hard if you have eaten loads of carbs prior to starting. I would say lower your carb intake 3 days before starting. It will also help you get into ketosis faster. Generally day 3/4 are the worst so I would plan o either have a day off on those days (if you work) or make it a weekend when your Oh is home. Everyone reacts diferently and side effects on that day are different for everyone. However once you get past that day you are fine. The only thing I would say is either buy ketositx or your CDC may give you a few free. These test to see if you are in ketosis and are a fab indication that you are on plan with the diet :j

On tough days (again I hope you dont mind me answering) I tend to use distraction techniques or do something random. So if I am really hungry at night I will have a bath and then go to bed early. Or I will go for a walk/read a book. In my early days I got addicted to online games and just played them untill I was nearly asleep :rotfl: Now I tend to be able to deal with ropugh day more easily (I mean after nearly 7 months you would too) and they dont effect me at all, I do have odd wobbles but generally they only last seconds/minutes instead of hours :rotfl:

How do I find it now, well after 7 months on a 100% liquid diet (except two times where I had to step up plans (everyone has to) and one week off) I think I can answer this one :rotfl: I find it easy, yes it is hard with social events, and christmas coming up now is the worst for this. However if you asked me if I would do it again it would be yes, if you ask me if I would stick to it this amount of time the answer would be yes. Its hard, I am not going to say its easy but whereas others find it really hard I find it 'normal'.

I will still be here when you start so i hope I can help you along on your journey :T

    Take care all :A
