Hi everyone, I'm a bit of a lurker (as I'm on LL rather than CD), but wanted to chip in to say I have PCOS too and now I'm on LL, my periods are 100% regular - for about the first time since I was 11 :) I've lost nearly 7 stone and it's definitely helping with a lot of the side effects of PCOS, so I can vouch for weightloss being a) possible with something like LL/CD and b) good for you in many ways :)

Thanks Kittykins. please dont lurk you are more than welcome its all the same but different anyway.

I am hopeing that being diagnosed will give me sucha kick up the bum now to loose the rest and feel better. I can track the times in my life when i felt good and healthy and funny that those were all thin versions of me :D

I need to get my life back and feel better, this is the heaviest i have ever been so no surprise the worst my symptoms have ever been... hence why i finally went to the docs about it.

The hair loss bothers me. more than the hairyness on the rest of my body. Having it all cut short this week

Wow, moving to Cornwall, that is a big Change Alf, no I didn't know. You have had one hell of a year havent you!

I think I've always been a bit of a cheat and just thought, oh you are supposed to be heavier with PCOS, which is bo!!ocks you just need to make a little more effort.

I have been quite lucky, don't suffer with hairloss or extra hairyness, I have one polycystic and one multicystic ovary, just got to be different. My main symptoms have always been irratic periods, and being very poorly before during and after periods. The Implanon has made a huge difference in that area.

Must admit to looking forward to getting back on SS, after all my overindulgence I feel tired all the time, very bloated, lethargic, just want to get my pj's on and go to bed all the time. Chasing that Euphoria I found after about 2 weeks in when I felt I could run a marathon!!!

    Hey all
I'm slobs, weighing in at 12st 5lbs and very excited about starting cd today, going to meet my councillor for the first time later on. Any hints/tips that you think would help would be greatly appreciated - any products I should avoid etc? Oh and can I drink tea without milk/sugar - can't survive without my tea!
Been a serial atkinser for several years and manage to lose weight ok each time I try, but so fed up with trying to work out meals etc that i'm looking forward to not having to bother.
Was doing really well on Atkins until I went to Italy and sort of fell off the wagon in a big way, managed to put on 2 stone in 3 months since, so need to get myself sorted.

    In a word... YIS :D

I think it is and it isnt, haveing to work harder than others to loose and keep off weight is hardly fair but then its got to be done to feel better. So no complaining here. Just hard work now.

Then i have been doing my reserach i will be following a low carb diet to mainain weightloss... and sanity. Carbs seem to make me depressed. and tired.

    PJ's anyone? :rotfl:

slobs you can drink tea. i suggest you try every product then stick to the ones you like... thats what the rest of us have done I am down to only three i like though. Sad but hey ho.

but biggest tip? water water water, drink drink drink. The more you drink the more you shrink. I have had a litre today already and during my good days was drink 4/5 litres. It helps

  • Hi Slobs,
My biggest tip - definitely don't give up the tea / coffee if you already drink it. Caffiene withdrawal is 100% worse than carb withdrawal. Black tea and coffee is allowed.

You will likely feel pretty lousy about day 3/4, just keep at it. After about 10-14 days you will start to feel wonderful.

Take a selection of different flavours, try the porrige and the soups, most CDCs will let you swap any you don't like. Long term most people settle on a core of favourites, some people even just end up taking one flavour. Personally I didn't like the porrige and soup, but some people love them.

Alf I think carbs have exactly the same effect on me. I am definitely feeling pretty miserable with myself at the moment.

Need to get out of the PJ's and into the trainers!!
So whats the new job? Cornwall is a lovely place, but it will be a big change, a little exciting and nerve wracking all at the same time.
Drink lots of water, even if you have to force it down

I cant wait to get down there i think it will be fab. I have been welding and fabricating things out of used horse shoes, wine racks, pot planters and such. I will be moving onto large comission only items but will be selling the rest at markets. that is the plan anyway.

The carbs things is weird though because i really crave them, like a physical adicted to drugs kind of craving. hope it eases (which it should if i remember right) and then i will just steer clear of them as much as poss... while still having a life of course :D

  • I know what you mean, we have someone by us that does something similar. That sounds like a good plan.

I really crave carbs, especially as soon as I know I cant have them, thick sliced hot buttered toast is my worst downfall. That is the one single thing that I always crave on any diet. Havent yet found a plan that lets you have it. Rosemary lets you have the bread but not the butter, Atkins lets you have the butter but not the bread, weightwatchers lets you have half a slice, (what good is half a slice:eek:)

Have to keep remembering how good you feel, when you start losing and you have more energy, when you stand up straight and your boobs stick out more than your belly. Keep focused on how carp carbs make us feel and we should be OK!

hey hey hey!!! the thread is alive and kicking!!

well done Pap on keeping the home fires burning!

So nice to see some old faces (well when i say old, i mean long time posters!) and some lovely new faces too!!!

Can't even begin to say individual well dones but seems everyone is piddling away nicely! or at least back in the right place and the right frame of mind....

Since we're having a homecoming, i guess i better come back into the fold too if that's okay?

I'm not Cd-ing now as such.... but i am trying to be a good girl.... have lost another few pounds in the last few weeks... i'm now down to 11st 9ish.... and wearing a size 14 altho i am contemplating buying some size 12's! whodathunkit?!?!

I did get a pair of size Next size 12s a while ago from a charity shop to keep as an aspirational pair to aim for, and they are now officially an every day pair of work trousers.....

Met pap a few weeks ago at Weymouth meet and she was looking great and really was an angel on the food front! we were all eating and drinking constantly and she was so restrained!

Not sure if you guys remember that Big G and i have split up and so now me n erin have our own wee flat, things are great on that front... i have had one or two gentlemen of interest but nothing too naughty and nothing serious anyway......! all good for the ego and all down to new skinnier me....

Altho on the menfolk related front, i'm having major hang ups about saggy boobs and tummy, so have spoken to my GP and he is so delighted i've lost weight and am exercising so he is happy to refer me for a tummy tuck and or boob job... first appointment is tomorrow morning.

That's enough news from me for now.... altho i'm not proper CDing anymore, i am still having at least 1 shake a day and would love to keep in the loop.......

well done again to Pap for keeping it going babes, you're a star!
I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....
    (it's part of my charm!)
