You wont of felt that you have lost weight. I didnt and my CDC says the majority doesnt. Its because in your first week you lose water. Because many people dont drink the recomended amount each day you body holds onto any water you drink. As soon as you start drinking the amount you are supposed to your body then relases the amount you are holding as there is no need to store it. Some say that you dont start losing fat till week 3
As long as your stick is pink you are in ketosis. Some people register a purple colour others barely pink. It depends on the person and the time of day you check. I can check in the moring and mine will be purple but late at night its barely pink. Also they say you are dehydrated if its purple so a barely pink colour is fab, it means you are drinking enoughJust enjoy the moment :rotfl:

Thats exactly what happened to me Bana. Its not so much I was hungry I just wanted to chew something, and seeing as crisps are my fave food you can now see why! They say chewing gum isnt allowed because it makes you hungry as it sends false signals to the brain. However I have used it although I dont chew it much and its all taken out not swallowed. Now I tend to chew ice cubes, straws and my nails (although I did the latter before).
Having the ss+ food 'shouldnt' interfear as you arnt eating enough to get hit out of ketosis but everyone differs. I had some steamed chicken and cabage one day and it didnt affect me. The only thing you can do is try it. If its eating that or efectively trying to get through then bingeing then I would go with the chicken. Just makes sure the chicken is plain and there is no sause/oils/mayo with the salad. If you have any ketostix then around 24hours after consuming it see if its effected you. If it hasnt then not to worry :T

Ooh, I was told that I shouldn't chew gum when doing this diet but I really need to do something as I might knock out the poor people who sit next to me on the train everynight - ha ha. I seem to have a furry tongue too - is that a side effect of ketosis?
Funny, I've started chewing on bits of paper and then spitting them out - very strange! but it helps me cope so that's ok!
Ok, I'm going to have some cod (grilled) and a little bit of salad tonight (and tomorrow), apparently I can have 'calorie free' dressing on it - any idea where I can buy some or make my own?!

No you arnt 'allowed' to chew gum because it send signals to your stomach that food is on its way. And as you know on this diet :rotfl: However people do and I have, it wont be for long mayble less than 10 min but it just gets over that temptation. The fish and salad sounds lovely. I dont know of any calorie free dressing except pepper and salt. The problem is some of these dressing claim to be callorie free but when you look at the analisis its actuall high in carbs, something you dont want! i hope you find something, I know on minimins they use basalmic vinagerEnjoy it either way

I chew gum - its a ex smokers thing, usually if I'm in the car, the sugar free stuff won't affect your ketosis or anything like that, but it is said to stimulate saliva and make you feel like you are hungry.
It dosent bother me in that way really, I almost always crave different foods, but it dosent make me any hungrier.

hi all its my first day on ss+ and have just had my 100g or so of chicken with some spinach. don't feel too bad actually although I feel very cold, has anyone else felt this?
also, has anyone had any of the choc / choc mint or strawberry shakes hot? do they taste ok, or do they go a bit funny? i'm having to bosh them in a couple of gulps as i can taste the vitamins in them / medicinal taste - ahh and i thought they would taste like a mcd's milkshake :rotfl:0 -

Hi rkd, Feeling the cold is common on this diet so dont worry too much. However keep your feet and hands warm. I have had the choc shake hot but I found it worse than cold. On my first week I had one of each flavour and some I had to knock back as I hated them, straws help too :rotfl: You can make them slushy like md shakes if you crush up loads of ice although they are not as sweet. My fave flavour is strawberry and my order monday will be 100% strawberry again :T0 -

About gum....I also chew it. Like mad! That could be why I was so hungry earlier this week? Yet I wasn't last week?
Anyway, I asked my CDC before I started the diet and she explained that it was fine and the only reason a lot of diets ban it is for the reason previously mention....the chewing makes your brain tell your tum it's getting some grub! Lol
Well, I can live with that if I have to. Couldn't give up my gum. I too, am an ex smoker and Cherry Airwaves are my crutch!!! Lolol:T

I'm chuffed! LOL!
I spoke with my CDC in regards to the 'do' we have next week and she said the best thing to do is plan to eat something. And plan what I'm going to eat. Ie: Chicken & salad or tuna steak.
Recommended avoiding sausages/burgers/bread etc as they are not as high protein.
In regards to alcohol (I had read it can make people very ill whilst in ketosis) She explained that when we lose fat, the first place it goes from is our liver. So, if we drink alcohol our livers are unprotected (once we start to eat food again it gets the protection again).
So, say four glasses of wine would be like having 15. A lot of damage could be done there.
But...she said she wasn't certain when alcohol was taken at the time as eating.
So....we will see lol.

Just back from my first weigh in - 6 lbs! :j
I would have liked 7 lbs - so a magic half a stone but we're never happy are we? Thats not bad seeing I am doing ss+. Can anyone tell me can i do ss+ one day and have four shakes the next? She let me have two bars to try as I am eating she said it shouldn't be a problem. I have started not accepting invites out as it is easier to stay at home and not be tempted.
I am off on holiday in 3 weeks to Spain, how do I do damage limitation? I will be drinking lots of sangria etc should i just try and eat meat and reduce my carbs? How much weight do you put on when you stop CD?0
