13:45 08Jun09 Gbp and M&A flows - Some positive talk at last
12:45 GMT - [GBP AND M&A FLOWS] There has been plenty of speculation that the plunge from Wed's 1.664 fresh 2009 best has been, in part, M&A related.
Certainly, reports that Abu-Dhabi will sell around Gbp 3.5bln of its share holding in Barclays grabbed much attention, while there was also talk of heavy sales after an aborted venture between two international commodities sector giants. Today, news is more positive for the Pound regarding potential cross border flows. The Telegraph reports that Barclays is closing in on the sale of Barclays Global Investors to BlackRock for over Gbp 8bln. Meanwhile, Cable consolidates around 1.5900 at present, some distance off earlier 1.5803 European session lows. Please take the time to have a look around my Daughter's website www.daisypalmertrust.co.uk
