  • No way  Ive been very unimpressed by dollar recently, even with all this fear it has not really risen anywhere near enough. I think the game has changed

Whether thats to Sterlings benefit because we basically follow dollar, Im not sure but sterling has held well.

I'm over in England in a couple of weeks. Let's see the $ get a little stronger until then hey? ;)

Are you showing off Miss Chloe Alice Bond? :)

OH and I are in the US, house and pet sitting while DS and DIL are away. When our grandchild arrives, they won't be able to keep us away.

Too right we will be. My folks were meant to come over in September but they had issues with someone to look after their pub.
After discussions with the better half we decided it was better to travel with the young un while she was 3 months old rather then 12 months. Much easier to look after! (touch wood). She's very much a sleeper and smiler. Crying only happens when she's hungry.
    Here's a little picture... http://i751.photobucket.com/albums/xx154/neilbond007/0308.jpg

    When is you grandchild due?

Oh, decent day for the GBP. Touching 1.63
  • Neil, she is gorgeous:D
You must be so proud :)
If you think nobody cares whether you're alive or dead, try missing a couple of mortgage payments.

    My way is Atkins;)
  • Any advice on when/where the best place to by $, we travel in 4 weeks time?
    Thanks in anticipation.

Oh, Neil, she is gorgeous! I can tell she's a smiler.

I'll plant the idea about bringing baby to Wales sooner rather than later as well - good idea.

Not due until beginning of December. Dil's mum must have priority, so we'll be over again in January.

Go on Travelmoney maximiser. Post Office and Saga are very good for prompt delivery.

  • Thanks Pollypenny
  • Off to NY next week and looking at getting the travel money together. Just wondering how much better the exchange rate is likely to be in the US compared with getting it here? Currently been quoted exchange rate of 1.58$ to the £ in UK at Post Office and Co-Op

    Makes pretty alarming reading....

    http://www.marketvector.com/exchange-rate/pound.htm

Saying that, they are both woefully off for the August 2011 figure
